so i got a totally OT tangent question about CT. So if i want to take the ferry boat from long island (near stony brook uni) out to CT... what kinda neat family stuff is there to do?

Hmm, I've only been in CT for two years, so probably not the expert. I think there's a decent amount of apple picking opportunities and pumpkin patches. Norwalk has the Maritime Aquarium, and a children's museum called Stepping Stones (not sure how family oriented you mean, haha).

There's Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods, if that's your thing. Greenwich Avenue in Greenwich is a nice street to walk along, there's a good amount of shopping (typically higher end) and quite a few restaurants as well, plus a park with a playground, and the best Restoration Hardware store I've ever seen!

All in all, no, there's nothing exceptional, at least as far as I've gathered. Some good places to eat, some good places to pick apples, and some good places to hang out - but probably nothing that's an absolute must.
