Lemme try and help you.

Everyone here just wants to have fun. We've been getting to know each other for damn near 5000 posts now, so there is a lot of hidden meanings in what we type, a lot of personal humor with each other.

You can't jump in and pick right up on the jokes. It sucks, I know, being on the outside, but hang out, be cool, keep the sex / gender humor to zero and focus on the car / random talk, you'll pick it up real quick. We do talk about cars once in a while. Don't we??

I applaud you for hanging in here. American slang is tough to pick up, and as I've said many times, your English is far better than my German.

Even though most of us haven't met face to face (yet!), we knida stick up and watch out for each other. So if something you say is taken the wrong way, you'll hear about it from many of us. I work with people from around the world, so I understand this, but you need to understand that in America, things have different meanings than they do in the text books. You'll pick it up quick, and don't be affraid to ask questions if you're not sure what something means.

Last thing, treat everyone (especially the girls) with courtesy and respect, and you'll do fine. Here or in the real world. You'll figure out when to start in with the wit and humor. The other person will initiate it.

Enjoy America. We have our faults, but I think it's the greatest country on Earth. With a little patience, you'll pick up the slang and have a lot of fun.


BTW, most american girls love foriegn guys with accents. They're just not all ho's like you've seen in the German cinema.
