Exclamation AUTOID - Gran Turismo 7

Hey guys,

In my spare time I do a little gaming on Gran Turismo. Thought I'd see if people on here would be interested in joining a lobby and maybe forming a monthly or bi-weekly lobby and subsequent racing league of some kind?

Let me know!

I’d join in for sure but I’m super new to the game. Just ordered a cheap sim rig with the Logitech g923. Looking forward to learning the basics on the PS5 before I commit to anything on my PC

I finally got the chance to break in the new setup and holy cow, I’m much worse than I thought haha

I have all the driver assist settings off except weak ABS. I’m not used to driving a manual but it’s been a lot of fun to work on lap times.

Any track recommendations that I should learn and stick to? I think my 991 GT3 RS road car is my favorite to driver fast. The E46 M3 is awesome but holy shit it’s hard to keep straight under acceleration.

Either way, I’m having so much fun learning the basics!

Hey the easiest way to actually learn is to watch the fastest laps of the online daily races and try to copy their lines and braking points. You can also do this for the racing school challenges - click on the demonstration lap before you do the lap and you'll learn a lot by just watching.

Then, if you want to go a step further, load up the ghost replay of the fast laps and then do the same lap and see if you can beat the ghost.

One assist I use is the apex points - where you have those yellow balloon-like markers - that signify where the apex of the corner is.

Lastly, many of the track driving basics are applicable
1) Vision - look as far out as possible. Don't worry about what's going on in front of your car. By the time you're braking and going into a corner, your eyes should be staring at the next corner. By driving further with your eyes, you can anticipate what you need to do before you have to. It helps you intuitively place the car in the right line.
2) Braking - brake in a straight line and do it earlier than you think you need too. Slow in and fast out is what creates fast laps
3) Use the entire track - the fastest way around the corner is the draw out the straightest looking lines with the least amount of angle. This is best accomplished when you use the entire width of the track.

Best of luck! It's addicting.

We use the Red Bull Ring for our lap time rig at work. It's got a nice mix of breaking zones and technical corners with a medium difficulty.

These are excellent tips!! Particularly about watching the lines of the Ghost replays. I've learnt a lot that way. I also use the yellow apex markers.

Guys. I'm looking to arrange a lobby this weekend. Are you available?

What time zones are we in?

I can get a discord set up

I’m free this weekend. I’m central time zone. I’d love to get a lobby going! Count me in

Also, thanks for all the tips! I’m getting faster with the paddles but I’m still trash with the manual shifter haha I always downshift too quickly and spin out. I guess that’s what I get for growing up driving Toyota CVTs
