Actually the last woman that raced in the Winston *cough* before they sold out, was Patty Moise. Before her are Robin McCall and Janet Guthrie- who started with Indy cars and then ran a few nascar races. But good for Danica!

Congrats to Danica Patrick :-). But something seems fishy to me, 3 driver pitted with 5 laps to go and then she passes the best Indy driver (Helio Castroneves). Hmmmmmmm

That was just poor planning on the part of their engineers. They stretched it too far and payed the price.

I don't pretend to know much about racing. It's about as boring as baseball and thus I can't stand watching more than 2 minutes of it in one sitting. However, it seems to me that there's so little left in the hands of the drivers anymore. Whoever has the best car and team seems to win. This race is a clear indication of that as she didn't do anything technical to win at all. She passed a car that in conservative mode because he was running out of gas.
Also, I'm sure she weighs all of 100 lbs. That's probably a big advantage. I hear something about introducing a minimum weight for drivers such that additional weights would be added to the car if the driver was too light. Not sure if that's going to happen or if it already has, but it's interesting nonetheless. |
