Manual Shifter Ergonomics

This might be just me, but curious as to other's thoughts.

I feel like the shifter is not ideally located. Feels like when shifting into 2nd and 4th that it is too far back making me feel light I have to manipulate my shoulder to complete the shift. Maybe the seat is in the way? Could also be I sit closer to the steering wheel?

It's probably your body size and the way you have your seats adjusted. Some people have longer legs with shorter arms (or the opposite) and sometimes the ideal position for your legs isn't as good for arm position in respect to the console, shifter, etc. although I don't really recall any manual transmission car I have driven where I had to manipulate shoulders to shift.

I'm probably not explaining it well, but point taken on seating position. Just seems that on 1-2 and 3-4 shifts, my elbow can't easily go back on the shift. Maybe combination of seating, center console, shifter height or just my imagination?

I'm only 5'5" so I have to sit closer in order to reach the peddles, so my elbow hits the arm rest in 2nd, 4th, and 6th as well. I've tried moving the seat back and that fixes the shifting problem, but I have to reach too far for the peddles. It is what it is. Sucks being short.

I've felt the armrest is too high since I had my M235. I drove once with the top flipped up and it felt much better. Not real practical, though.

?? My elbow doesn't really move much, it's just a wrist movment.

Edit haha not like the video above😂

I keep my elbow almost still on the armrest.

Probably as the seat bolster can get in the way a little. Evo recommend driving with the armrest lid open! It does feel better but looks daft..

Try driving with the armrest up, if that works consider modifying it https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...0#post23817360

Great idea but I'm no where near qualified to pull that off! I'd probably be a buyer though.
