But yeah I definitely underestimated it about 2-3 years ago, I make it a regular thing now. I used to get horrible lower back pain when lifting when I didn't warm up, and couldn't stand/move for long periods of time on my feet because of that (in the real world, even). I was a hot, fat mess smh.
Not really. I wish i was, but it's just not that difficult to hit that mileage on a road bike. To do that mileage at a higher average mph than i'm doing is when it gets more difficult. But I'm not fast either. I'm trying though. Unfortunately, all the people i know that bike are actual "beasts". My goal is a 1 hour 40k (roughly 25 miles holding 25mph). My current best is 1 hour 19 minutes. 1 hour 40k is a tall order for me, but all the people i ride with can do it in 1 hour, or better. But they've all been riding for at least 10 years. i've been at it since Dec 2015.

At my current weekly mileage, i'll be at 2000 miles by the end of June. After Montana (late July) i'm going to focus on getting faster, which will involve some lifting.

Are you running for cardio or doing something else?

Stuck in LAX. Our 1135 flight now leaves at 1245 but probably no way we make the connection in Detriot. So what's to do for a day in D Rock City???

Grab all the spare change you have in your vehicles and you should be able to pick up a few "investment" houses while you're there.

Hide. Best advice.
Plus, you aren't really in Detroit. The airport is in Romulus. Literally nothing there. You are 1/2 hour drive from anything remotely interesting. Axius may have better advice, he spent more time closer to downtown. I grew up in the 'burbs.

The Henry Ford, in Dearborn, is what I would do though. Cars, history... Got it all.

Oh, well I'm obviously a bike noob. But that's almost no time, still good incremental increases, IMO. Stuff like that is just like resistance or weight training, to a degree. Obviously you won't just be able to hop on a bike and do 25mph consistently for an hour. Lol

And my cardio is interval training (including running). So I have three intensity levels, broken down into 1 minute: 30 seconds for initiating intensity levels, 15 seconds for the mid-tier modified set, and then the final 15 are the high impact/intensity set. Including running, I do Charlestown kicks, jacks, 3 in 1 push-ups, sumo jacks, ice skaters, plyo step backs, etc.

That type of training is crazy difficult because there are technically not real rest periods to fully adjust your heart rate; all you have are different periods of low intensity routines, followed by the higher ones, and your heart rate isn't really given ample opportunity to come down. About 4 months ago, I could barely get through 15 minutes. Now I do it once a week, 40-45 mins a superset.

That kind of cardio is definitely difficult. I always have a ton of respect for people who do high intensity routines like that. I used to be a cardio guy, but I've given it up and go for the glamour muscles now. I'm too skinny for that. Which is what I tell myself because those workouts would destroy me. Lol

Ha, no kidding! It definitely has helped sculpt my core, though. Like, this is after week 8 of my "super month set" routine. These pics are literally 30 days apart. Took one this morning, the other on April 1st. I also feel MUCH stronger. I'm going for the glamour muscles in the fall. But RN, I literally feel as though I could complete a 5k without breaking a sweat.

Also just re upped on some watermelon. Blue Raz is cool but it's like, a chemical blueberry taste. Pretty hard to fuck up watermelon.

With the time change and a decent tail wind we had 35 minutes to go about 20 gates so now in Canada, eh

I've been up for 29 hours though so trying to push thru about 5 more before crashing for the night. Entertain me or I won't make it
