Your opinions of this understated wristwatch?

What do you people think of it? It will cost me a little over 1000 dollars after taxes and shipping. The size of the watch is 40mm. I've never seen anyone on the street with this exact model of watch yet the styling is so modern and classic that I can't really resist. It's German made with Swiss automatic movements.

i dont even own a watch, but i do like looking at them (omegas, breitlings, patek, even "lesser" watches like tag, seiko, toywatch) and plan on getting one some day, but that watch is just meh. plain and boring. looks cheap, even though its not.

great looking watch, BUT a little too busy i like mine with as bare as possible

I've been rocking Nixon "The Player" for the past 6 or so years. My first pair got really beat up, so i picked up a second one couple of months ago. Love it.

i've got something similar with white face but as Suareezay, i don't actually wear watch these days, just seem to feel a bit more free without them! I (may be it's gonna sound girly) would wear watches on like special occasions as accessory with suit for example or on a date but that's about it.. would wear them also when i actually need it - say going hiking or whatever. I own 3 watches, one metal bracelet, two leather ones (black classic and brown leather swatch which is my favourite though it's by far cheapest, haha).

Looks like an IWC sterile clone.

40mm is a very small face. I hope you have a small wrist.

It's a classic Pilot design. You can get a high quality Archimede German made Pilot (that is almost identical) with a Swiss ETA, Sapphire Crystal and display back for around $500 at http://www.gnomonwatches.com/archime...egerkrone.html

Actually, it's not a clone but it's one of the original Pilot watches worn by the German pilots in WWII. I prefer smaller watches, as big watches are too trendy.

Yes, I have considered Archimede Pilot watches but I think the attention to detail and craftmanship isn't stellar from some reviews I've read.

It's not a quartz watch, so the seconds hand doesn't stop and go tick but it sweeps smoothly like a Rolex. It's an automatic watch and automatics watches don't look cheap. Plain styling shouldn't mean it's cheap looking.

I'm also thinking about buying this watch...

It's a quartz so it's going to be accurate and it's all metal so I don't have to worry about getting a leather strap wet. For the time being, I'm only going to buy only one.

the aquaracer is nice. if you like that, then consider the carrera. its similar to the watch in your first post and is an automatic. i had one that was metal with a white face, subtle but elegant

(trading it in for this)

i still can't find the appeal people have with tag watches. The pilot you showed is 100x classier than that silver tag. When you start to get into the 1000 range a whole new world opens up.

youre right, it shouldnt. but in this case, it does. and im not talking about the movement, or whether or nots its auto.

if i were getting a plain watch, keeping the watch you posted in mind, id go with something along these lines:
Montblanc Time Walker

Baume & Mercier evne though i think this is a rep.

Vintage Omega

That said, I think watches are pretty pretentious and silly. Which is why i dont own one. Everyone with a watch that costs over a few hundred dollars thinks they are tho thpecial, like theyre James Bond all of a sudden. They feel "cultured" and "classy" because they can afford a decent watch, and they think guys dicks get hard whenever they see their watch. No, nobody cares but you. So just get whatever you want to look at everyday whenever you want to know what time it is. I personally look at my cell phone.

Yes, the Pilot watch is more classier but it's less accurate and higher maintenance due to the fact that it's an automatic. I like the style of the Pilot watch a lot more than the Tag and it'll definately turn heads in my opinion... I saw one girl wearing one in public and it turned my head. In about 5 years, I'll have to spend a few hundred bucks to get it lubricated and cleaned. I'm still thinking if I really should spend over a grand for a watch when I can spend the same amount for a nice SLR camera or computer.

The Pilot watch I'm planning to get has no white stitching on the leather band - I prefer it that way. I'm familiar with your brand. It's a Swiss company. The original Top Gun pilot who flew the first F-14 Tomcat wears it. How is the accuracy and does the seconds hand sweep smoothly or is it more like a fast tick? The Nav-B is larger than the Pilot watch I want to get as your model is 44 mm right?

How much did you pay for your watch?

Yes it's german made with Swiss ETA 2824-2 automatic movement, Steinhart and Debaufre are the same. Steinhart is based in Europe while Debaufre is based in the US. Mine came with two straps and a watch tool to swtich the straps. It's automatic so the hand sweeps smooth. It's pretty accurate but if you don't have a watch winder and don't wear it every day you'll be having to re-set the time.

German made? I thought Debaufre watches are Swiss made with Swiss movements?

Styling wise and including the movements they're identical to the pilot watch I want to get but Debaufre watches are much bigger. I don't like large watches and I'm not crazy about the white stitched straps.

Tag has been my fav for the longest of time, basically since as long as I can remember. However, I just got interested in this new Swiss brand, Tissot, and their T-Touch Titanium. It's got touch screen-esque capabilities. You have to see it to believe it.
