Your inquiry begs the question, "What's your idea of reasonable?"

Not knowing what your expectations are, I'd say, "Nowhere." Not in L.A., not NYC, not Timbuktu, not anywhere, unless you find a reliable and extremely motivated private seller.

You may find such a person at LAX trying to sell his Rolex in order to buy a plane ticket. Look for a G-List actor who is too embarrassed to return to waiting tables and must fly home to live with his parents for a while.

Joking aside, short of very well respected sellers of used watches, I would say that auctions may offer you the best opportunity while simultaneously minimizing the risk of buying a fake.

All the best.

You can look at Tourneu, but don't buy their warranty plan.

Just send the watch to Rolex for your maintenance.

They rip you off plus they usually don't have the box, card etc. I remember when Jared's had some crazy deals before. Try Rolex forums. They have local members and their prices are more than reasonable.

Search Timezone and Rolex forums as I recall there are shops that sell used Rolex in So Cal. You can always check the local AD for used selection. I bought mine from Govberg Who's an AD in Philly.

Not in LA, but I can recommend hqmilton.com in SF for vintage to modern pieces, mostly Rolex.

www.watchrecon.com too.

From there, check FNFZ4 as a search. he's a seller in Glendale. Always seems to have decent stuff, and a good rating.

Craigslist!!!

Lots of shops advertise on CL anyways, best prices, and you can always meet at a neutral watch shop to verify authenticity.

Heard good things about this store. I would ask a friend to buy it out of state and save on tax. Plus wire the money to get a slightly better deal.

With that said authorized dealers can knock off up to 20% of the retail price depending on the watch. Midwest is a good place to start. Check out the Rolex website and look for authorized dealers.

Might be a bit late; however, I would recommend Philippes Watches in Beverly Hills and Beverly Hills Watch Co.

I personally purchased a Breitling from Philippes.

Philippes gives you a 1 year warranty and Beverly Hills Watch Co. gives you a 2 year warranty on their pre-owned watches.

I'm ready for my first real watch and I've narrowed it down to a pre owned Submariner from this shop in Newport. Anything you can share with me regarding purchase tips or things to look for?

Sorry, don't come into this forum all that often. Aside from buying from a reputable seller who can verify that it has been recently and properly serviced and having it authenticated and appraised immediately the most important factors are getting to know the Submariner line and decide what your really want. There are nuances in sizing (I bought an '03 for smaller lugs and slightly thinner pre ceramic overall profile), caliber, bracelets, etc, etc. Just do some research and look around at different models and decide which one you want to look at on your wrist every day. Good luck!
