Would you buy from this dealer?

I contacted a small town Ford dealer about a used Ford Raptor and asked if it was CPO'd. He said they don't sell sell certified cars/trucks, he isn't aware of Ford doing this (they do).

If the CPO thing isn't a big deal to me would you overlook that the salesman clearly has no clue about his product or is this a deal-breaker? Truck isn't local so I can't just pop in to check her out.

Kinda makes you wonder if they don't know that, what else are they naive about?

Find this lack of knowledge is generally the norm and certainly not limited to this dealer or Ford. Had one BMW sales guy at my dealer try to explain how my wife's new X5 was being shipped from Germany. He was shocked to learn from me that they are built in South Carolina!

Ignorance is the norm I find so educate yourself. Perhaps you should educate this dealer about Ford's CPO/pre-owned program and see if you can make a deal...

I find it sad when I know more about the car than a salesman. Dude, it is your job to sell cars, learn your product.

It is sad when people who work in sales for a living, can just be lazy and flat out tell a person "no". The salesman should have said to to let me call you back and then he should have tried to confirm the request of the potential customer.

When i bought my first E46 M3 the sales guy told me that the sport button firmed up the suspension and made the steering heavier.....

All of them suck and 99.9999% don't know shit about their product.

I personally think it's the personality of sales people. More so there are the typical selfish, entitled and low education that make zero or no effort. While holding questionable business and moral ethics that will essentially try to get every cent out of you.

Difference of someone who does not know the answer in the corporate environment would "let me confirm that answer by getting back to you!" Rather than an out right lie.

Car sales is less about sales and more about the manipulation of people.

Most people are sheeple. We are an enthusiast community. We choose to know. Others have no interest in knowing.

This is 100% true. I have a buddy who is in Toyota sales and has told me most people just come in could give a shit less about what the features actually add and more about the does it do x, y or z being some menial feature like Bluetooth.

This is why I never talked to a sales guy when buying a car, I usually go directly to the sales manager since I refuse to pay for a sales guy commission when in fact they do nothing to help.
