to make a long story short: I'm negative ~250 balance on paypal a couple months ago due to buying stuff. Dont know how i got into negative when transactions shouldnt go thru if their negative but now im fucked.

paypal shut down my account a couple months ago and now I just received a phone call from them saying I need to pay their money back.

Now my question is, can I ignore their phone call and not pay them money back and have absolutely no harm done to me 100%? the paypal account was linked to my own bank account and my mom's credit card btw.

I also don't get how I somehow got into the negatives , dont know if paypal is bullshitting me!!! They even set me a damn deadline to pay that shit off! 1 week!! And I need to pay to this stupid NCO Financial Services or whatever bullcrap .... I really need help ...

Dude its $250 and is probably money that you have used. Just pay it back its not like they are taking your house away from you. Although if you continue with this trend it might end up happening...

there are alot of Paypal scams. Paypal says your full name must be on any official notifications from them. I have gotten some paypal emails i thought were phoney and my name was not on them. I forwarded the emails to spoof@paypal.com. Check it out and make sure its lagit. Someone might be trying to get your bank account #.

i think its pretty damn legit I mean paypal was sending emails for a while before then stopped and now they even phoned me. So obviosly they need to know quite a bit of my info to do all that. Also i'm suppose to pay NCO Financial Service and call back and give them my ref#...

and no I havn't been scamming ppl, I only bought some shit. Dont know how I get into negative seems pretty bull.

Oh yeah does anyone kno how I should go about paying this off? I was half assleep when the dude phoned this is the info I got from him:

Next time they call you, ask them a few basic questions. Legally they most likely can not verify your paypal account number so ask them to verify the last 5 charges to your account. Your address and phone number are too easy to get along with your mother's maiden name city of birth and marriage records if you have any so that is all useless.

Basic rule, don't talk to them when they call you. Call them back at whatever phone numbers you have either on file or listed on their website. If your account was transfered to an outside collection agency they WILL have a phone number on file for them.

dude be careful, give out no information. it seems they could withdraw the money themselves if they already have the bank account, so that your never into a negative balance. you stand to lose alot if you give out any info. you should call paypal back yourself and see if it's for real. I think it's a scam...

ask your bank if they offer free checking. the might have a minimum account balance requirement bu most banks offer it along with a check card.

ok I just phoned the number he gave me back and I THINK its legit someone help me verify.

He asked for my telephone I gave it to him and he right away knew my Full name and paypal account number.

Also my current bank account there is NOT ENOUGH BALANCE to pay off the 279.30 .

Finally can someone somehow check for me that NCO Financial Services is in any way linked to Paypal? I think through that we can determine if its scam or not.

also right now he is not asking for my bank account number. All he is asking me is to pay to NCO and get the ref # and phone him. I dont think its a scam.

Im pretty sure NCO is a collection company i've heard of them before. like I said you need to find out from Paypal if the charges are legitimate before paying anybody...

If you sold some stuff and someone filed against you, you will get a negative balance.

Though it's hard to imagine you get a negative balance if this didn't happen. It's most likely the account you link to didn't have enough money and when they tried to use the backup source for payment, the CC rejected the Paypal charge... if you can still log into your PP account, take a look and see the balance in it.

2 things...first, can't you simply go on-line to pay pal and check your own account? I mean I'm no pp expert, but I always thought you could go in to your account and get a detailed list of your transactions. Second, maybe you could try and make some payments, like $50 bucks a shot.

I'll add a third, fess up to your mom, tell her what you did, have her pay it, then make payments to her. Come clean, be honest. If my son did that with me, I would be pissed, but would appreciate the honesty.
