Just Lost my Job

Ouch. That is pretty rough. A coworker at my old job went to lunch... when he came back, his laptop was gone from his desk. He went to his bosses office to say someone had taken the laptop, but it was the boss that had it. He said that the phone line, email, everything had been cut off and that the guy was fired. It's incredible how many people have been laid off. Good luck in finding a new job. Don't let pride get in the way of finding something that is "ok" in the meantime.

Thanks for all the support guys.

It's shitty, but like you've said, it's not just me, and it's due to something outside of my control. I also know that things could be much worse. The one positive is that I have nothing holding me to Phoenix. I moved here for this job, and I can repeat the process. Gives me the flexibility to go where-ever I find work.

that is dirty and unprofessional..
There are more considerate ways of firing someone

it's bad enough the guy is losing his job, that guy didn't have to be a jerk about it

Keep the faith buddy, something will come along soon. Enjoy some time off, hopefully you have enough put away to coast for a while. The economy has shown hints of getting better so hopefully it does and you're back up on your feet in no time.

I feel you.
I was an architect in one of the big 5 firms and we started to lay off people from last september and I ended up getting laid off as well two weeks ago. Our department basically vanished. Sucks and no hard feelings.
