Is there any way to use my phone as an internet source for my lap top?

I have a blackberry storm with unlimited internet/data plan...when i travel is there a way to hook up my phone to my lap top and use internet on the laptop itself? I've seen it done before somewhere, just never thought i'd use it...

I just got a Storm yesterday and asked the guy at Verizon the same thing. He said if you want to do that it would be an extra 30 bucks a month for that option. I really dont need it that bad for an extra 30 bucks a month.

Do you know of any sweet or must have apps for the phone?

P.S. If you have problems with hitting buttons on the screen while talking, let me know, I got this app the locks the screen during a phone call.

It is usually an extra service called tethered modem. Your provider will know.

I guess it's worth a shot. The drivers that come with the phone aren't Mac compatible right?

I used to do it with any regular phone

laptop needs BT, u need a good data plan (I used to have unlimited internet for 50$)
connect to your phone via BT using the modem service.

It'll work and you will be charged your regular GPRS/EDGE rate

I don't think crackberries can do that though.. too many restrictions and stupidities..
crackberries = major fail = 2001 technology I had in my SE P800

You have to make sure you have the data tether plan. Setup BB storm as Bluetooth modem, and your good to go. I have my storm tethered to my Mac book Pro and windows laptop; It works flawless!

It is 15/mo for me, however I do not have the enterprise data plan. If you have the enterprise it is included. Either way it equates to the same monthly data charge.

EDIT: A word of advice, if you decide to use the Verizon Access Manager for establishing connection, it has a much slower d/l / upload rate than if you create a DUN connection in windows, or OSX. Much more effective to create a DUN connection and just dial when you need to establish connectivity.

Let me know if you need any assistance.
