I really enjoy that Rye offering, never was much of a Crown man before.

Thumbs up

For those who prefer a less sweet Crown. I highly suggest this:

Picked these up today. I keep hearing about the Crown flavoured whiskeys and I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. The crown Apple smells and tastes great, on the sweet side but tastes authentic. The Maple is less sweet and a good blend between a whiskey and liquor, more whiskey tasting than the apple. Both are exciting and shouldn't be looked over. The fireball is great: nice and lively, Jameson and Makers are good
But I would call neither outstanding.

Actually double that to be exact. Makers is decent but nothing stands out about it, reminds me of Jack Daniels, on the bland side. Not to say it's bad, it's quite smooth but I don't taste any hints of anything on it. I knew most ppl on this thread would turn their noses up at flavoured whiskeys but I can say I like them.
And yes I'm a kid at heart, part of being a dad 🥃👻

Yeah just cant do sweet or flavored really. Makers is just a standard I'm an ambassador for them. I agree I don't notice significant flavor profile in it either but I'm old and could accidentally drink rubbing alcohol and be fine.

Makers Mark is alright but there are far better bourbons for the price. Makers 46 is a bit better and has a more complex flavor from the additional aging.

I think that's the first person that has actually called fireball "good". I mean, we all have done shots of goldschlagger and rumple mints, but they have never been considered a good drink by anyone I know. Something you have to throw down and can't just sip on isn't really a good drink.

With the flavored stuff, to each their own. I personally don't like them as I feel they just hide the bad aspects of a subpar drink. Just like you don't need a good whiskey when mixing with coke, yet I digress and leave you with a photo.

Our go to drink growing up was Jager which I still find decent and yes it's not a drink you can take more than a few of but I wanted to try it. I think you can sip it, just limit the quantity which I do now or I get nasty hangovers.

I don't know about the flavoured Crown, but marketing I guess. If you can get a bottle of Danfeild 21 year old Canadian Blended Rye. DO IT. It's dirt cheap for what you get, about $45 CAD a bottle the last time I managed to get one.

My wife has me on the lookout for the white ceramic tequila bottle. She found ONE at second-hand store, and managed to get it for $14.

We saw it at one bar, and I told the young tender behind the bar that whomever buys the last shot gets first shot at the empty. She was having none of it, said she already promised it to some other guy who already had a pair and was making lamps. . .

(yes, the sounds totally improper, yet I can't even remember her name or what she looked like)

Making a lamp or wearing a lampshade? You should have overruled her with the manager!!!! Lol!!

Do you still need one?

I'm working my way through another ceramic she made me buy for her, that there is NO WAY we can make into a lamp (or lampshade) for $175. It's very sweet, tastes like the Grand Marnier is already in the bottle.

Her sister bought one for her brother. Not sure who gets first claim to that one, but come January 6 I will do my damnedest to empty it for them, if only to watch the ensuing catfight.

Clas Azul, that's the one!
