Going LED with LM2 already installed
So I guess I have the pre-facelift 2009 E60 535xi because I still have bulbs in the rear.... I got some LED lights from my son but have no clue how to wire and most directions I'm finding are from E9x or LM1 cars....
I don't care about cutting and splicing my own wiring, I do a ton of wiring so that's the last thing that bothers me... and I'm trying to avoid waiting FOREVER for a harness to come or spend $200+ for one.... so I'm looking for help in wiring... i.e. which wires are what and if I actually have to add resistors, etc. Here is what I have: Here are the new lights: I know I'm going to have to do my own work to figure out which wires on the LED lights go where, etc. ***Sorry about the insanely HUGE photos |

LMAO... I thought it was a Blue/White wire.... it's Blue/Brown which makes:
right side; tail light; pin#1 wire black/brown brake light; pin2 wire white/brown turn signal; pin#5 wire blue/brown left side; tail light; pin#4 black/red brake light; pin#3 grey/green turn signal; pin#5 blue/brown/yellow |

Biggest question now is can I simply splice these bad boys together or am I going to need resistors....
And if I do need resistors and just wire it up.... I'm assuming it will work just Flash, etc telling me GET THE RESISTORS lol I did also get this bit from another post: "In the LM2, you need to change: KALTUEBERWACHUNG_BLK_H_L from aktiv to nicht_aktiv KALTUEBERWACHUNG_BLK_H_R from aktiv to nicht_aktiv WARMUEBERWACHUNG_BLK_H_L from aktiv to nicht_aktiv KALTUEBERWACHUNG_BLK_H_R from aktiv to nicht_aktiv FEHLERMELDUNG_CC_BLK_H_L from aktiv to nicht_aktiv FEHLERMELDUNG_CC_BLK_H_R from aktiv to nicht_aktiv all of the above are in relation to the LED indicators and this tells the LM2 to not carry out cold or warm bulb checks and not report any check control messages in due course. Lastly, you need to change: PWM_ANSTEURUNG_BL from wert_05 to wert_02 and wert_04 This disables the brake light being used as a side light (I will explain this shortly). Essentially it changes the voltage output from 6.598v to 0v PWM_ANSTEUERUNG_RL_33 from wert_05 to wert_04 This increases the tail light voltage from the default 6.598v to 100% (around 13.8v) PWM_AN_NSL_SL from wert_02 and wert_03 to wert_01 This disables the fog light from being used as a side light by reducing the voltage from the default 4.699v to 0v We have to disable the fog light and brake light as side lights as we have increased the voltage on the side light to 100% therefore you wouldn't be able to tell when pressing the brake or putting the rear fogs on as the brightness wouldn't change." |

All is working the only issue I have now is the tail lights go OFF after about 30 seconds and I get an error "Communication with SMC disrupted"
Errors: 9CBC: LM: Communication with SMC, left, disrupted 9CBD: LM: Communication with SMC, right, disrupted Now if I plug the stock setup in on the left the lights stay on and only the right dies with 9CBD: LM: Communication with SMC, right, disrupted |

Hoping eventually someone chimes in.... so I pulled a new wiring diagram and there was 1 wire on each side that had me completely lost and this diagram shows it:
Circled in Red are the tail lights to make life "easy" Circled in Blue is the question I am having.... For the Left tail light it appears that the "Brake Light" is 2 wires: GR/GN & WS/RT (or Grey/Green & White/Red) and For the Right tail light it appears that the "Tail Light" is 2 wires: SW/BR & WS/SW (or Black/Brown & White/Black) Would I be correct in reading this? So I should combine 2 wires for the brake light on the left and 2 wires on the tail light on the right? |

Anyone... ANYONE with experience in this or ideas are welcome to post.... at anytime. You don't have to hold back for me to figure this out on my own LMFAO |
