Hoooollllllyyyy chit.

Let me clarify a few things for those who don't understand the fascination with shoe collections.

The average "snead" collection can be worth $30,000 depending on rarity and condition knowns as "DS" deadstock= never worn.

The largest shoe collectors to name a few were/are Ben Baller (met him at RIF LA recently), DJ AM, Fat Joe, and Flex. Ben Baller recently sold 1/3 of his collection for $250,000 to start his jewelry business which now he has a net worth of $4.5M.

Here's an example, let's say there is a Jordan release of shoes called "Bel-Air's" that retail for $180. Somehow you are able to get 3 pairs. You wait about 3 months and they are now worth roughly $500 each.

I used to be an avid SB dunk collector but sold it all expect my Jedi's and Hawaii's.

I'm just getting back into collecting though, do you have any in size 11?

You're going to tell us that the AVERAGE shoe collection is worth $30k? Really going to state that as a fact? Really?

I very well could be wrong, but something tells me that the AVERAGE shoe collection is worth much less than that. Unless you're name is really a nick name or a verb of course.

Them being worth $30K and the people who have them thinking they are worth that are very different. I believe he is talking about the latter of the two. I have some friends who are big sneaker heads and they have admitted that unless you have the disposable income to sit on most of the shoes for 5 years or so they aren't going to be much more valuable then when you bought them.

What a shoe is worth and what someone will pay is different. Value of Jordan's really depends on condition, lightly worn, never worn/still factory tied/reciept all original packaging.

Take for instance the most recent "limited" Kobe Bryant shoe that released last friday..was very limited in quantity..retail price was $140.00 + tax, you will not find a pair today for under $500 bucks, some people are WILLING to pay 7-$800.

I wouldn't say the average "sneakerhead" (hate that term) collection is 30k, it all depends on the shoes that are in your collection and condition (yes there is a market for worn shoes too).

Another thing killing the value of older Jordan's is Nike/Jordan brand is re-releasing pairs again, bringing the rarity down of certain shoes, although the quality of the newer 2011- 13 releases has been pretty piss poor. However more and more people are trying to get into sneakers to make $$$ hence driving the price up of pretty much everything.

Whoa, relax there with all the "really's" buddy! You somehow managed to omit the term "snead" (which I also hate the term) prior to the word average shoe collection. So yes, I'm REALLY saying that on average, a SNEAD's shoe collection is worth $30k.

Now maybe you're confusing the actual retail cost of a shoe vs. what it can actually sell for. Some crazy collections for example can have a Jordan 5 "Quai 54" that retails for $140 when it came out and can sell anywhere between $5,000 to $7,000

OR Yeezy's

http://www.flightclub.com/nike-air-y...k-black-090058

and these ugly shits

http://www.flightclub.com/nike-air-m...pl-blue-090135

That's just three shoes and already we're already a little over $16k. Imagine having one to wear and two for investments X 100 shoes.
I don't make this stuff up man....really

Mostly this...Kind of like when you buy a 1952 Cadillac in 1952 for $5,000 then keep it in original condition and decide to sell it in 2013 and now it's worth $40,000.

What constitutes a "Snead" or "Sneakerhead" or whatever? To have a 30k collection you'd need probably 60+ pairs of shoes. I know people who are way into shoes that I would consider "sneakerheads" but they only have 4 or 5 pairs. They talk all day about them, always notice when someone has a nice pair, etc. The only difference is that they don't have 30k to spend on them.

It's a little different over here in Los Angeles. People take their shoes very seriously lol

My shoe collection days are over, but I'll still dabble in a pair here and there!

Yeah I mean it's pretty hardcore in Chicago as well...I guess that's my personal definition...most see it the traditional way.
