Speeding ticket

Hi guys,

i got a speeding ticket this morning, man it sux getting caught by officer in the morning.

90 mph where limit is 55. I was driving 70~80 and pulled little more to 90 for like 2 seconds, then the police appeared right away.

I am a international student. i am not familiar how it works in the states. He told me i have 20 days to pay the penalty or appeal. how does appeal work? Can i ask for lower penalty because i am a poor student? Could it cause any bad thing? or there is nothing to appeal since it is clear i hit 90 at 55 limit highway.

Thanks in advance.

what did the cop write you up for? i don't know how laws in MA work for going 45mph over the limit. that's a pretty significant speeding ticket, you're lucky to have not received reckless driving.

Poor student argument may not hold up because of the kind of car you drive.

If this is your first speeding ticket, appeal and go to the court and ask for mercy of the judge by asking him to attend "traffic School" in exchange for a break in fine or your driving record. He may reduce your fine or allow it to not get on your record if you the traffic school.

Good luck

Luckily the only time i got pulled over doing over 25 over was on a bike, I was doing about 70(140MPHish) over out in the middle of the country and passed a cop. I immediatly got off the throttle and slow down to the side of the road and he comes rolling up behind me, tells me not to play games in his county anymore as he doesn't want to write a death report or something and let me off with a warning.
You lucked out there. I am suprised he didn't arrest you.

Good Lord, 140mph... so senseless... Lucky you didn't hit a deer or kill someone.

but if you were eligible for traffic school, that ticket won't show in ur record, hence ins. company won't see the violation....i got my speedo, 81 in 55 zone, but took traffic school, ticket cleared, no raise in premium...i actually got a decrease in premium due to my "exceptional" driving...

You have never ridden a motorcycle have you? 140mph comes and goes fairly quickly and it is really not dangerous if there is nobody around.

If I passed a cop doing 140 I would have been doing 160 soon after :\ Anything over 25 over and I am not stopping. Then again I hardly EVER go that fast just for that reason.

Poor and international student don't match, you'd get hit with a fatter fine. Trust me, I've been through that road.

+1

i don't go more then 15mph over the limit but thats when everyone else is going fast i just follow the traffic probably the smartest thing to do. And if i were going 140 shit man i wouldn't stop until i ran out of gas because I know I'm gonna go the jail anyway so might as well enjoy the few mins i have left being a free man

on a side note i would stop because if the cop didn't kill me my parents would

No I haven't but I do know the following:

Speed = less time to react = a lot more dangerous when on public roads.

Not to be a dick, but you are driving around a 335i, do you really think even if there was a "poor student exception" that you would actually qualify?

Defy THE MAN and you must pay THE MAN. Welcome to the states

Cheers,
