Battery replacement

I tried to jumpstart my 2001 540i with my charger, which didn't work, but the multi-function monitor no longer works (it is dimly backlit). I was told by a BMW mechanic that I fried the Nav unit in the trunk. Also, I replaced my battery with other than a dealer unit. Am I screwed?

The new battery should fix everything, including active drive ctrl. messages

although it has happened to me that the battery was fine, only active drive message was shown, so i just made sure that when i parked my car (next 3-4 times) that the wheels were aligned with the car and when i started the car on the 4th or 5th time, (according to local dealers advice it re-calibrates the whole active drive system) the message disappeared and active drive went back to normal

Does both white (wet) battery and black (AGM) battery need to be reprogrammed or just AGM batteries? When someone states it need to be registered, it that the same as reprogramming done by dealership.

depends on what you have in there.
register is not programming.
programming is not registering.

Is it ok? I was thinking of an Interstate Battery. The local tire shop I deal with sells them and says he has one for my E60. I asked about the vent tube and he says it has one. The price is half of what the stealrship wants. Should I do it?
I went with an optima blue top D34M

The best battery in the market!
