The End Of Apple
by Stephen McBride

https://www.forbes.com/sites/stephen.../#125527586dc0

Btw... IF your interested in Apple and the way the company operates, I really like Louis Rossmann's YT channel... There are a lot of simularities in the way APPLE and BMW run their companies...

I think Apple will be fine for a long time; they have extremely strong financials and the Iphone is still the it phone... their growth may be limited but the market in my opinion at this point has maximum reach... how many more phones can people buy?

As far as these nonsense startups and BS trend type companies like WeWork; the moment there is a slight economic downturn they are done. The only reason that nonsense is still flourishing is because the economy is riding a serious high... that many would argue is false.

WeWork is already on it's way out, but generally speaking a lot of the start-ups right now, at least those in the midwest, aren't really doing great financially. Investors are slowly being more reasonable when giving out money, though basically until Aug-Sept of this year you could have a nice looking pitch deck that explains a completely bullshit but okay-sounding business plan and you'd be able to raise a decent sum under your Series A.

The second the correction comes a lot of this will fall, especially student entrepreneurship - almost exclusively funded by small to mid-size VCs.

My primary machine at home is this mid-2012 13" MacBook Pro I'm typing on. One of the last user-upgradeable versions. I dumped the DVD drive, moved the 500GB spinning drive to that space, installed a 500GB SSD, and bumped the RAM to 16GB. It's still a fast and reliable machine. Those days are gone. Now to get a decently equipped MBP, you need to sell a car or cash in your retirement account. The iMac Pro is an impressive machine for those who need that kind of horsepower and can afford the huge layout, but I have to think most folks would look elsewhere at those prices.

I just saw this "great deal" on a 13" MacBook Air with an i5 processor, 8GB RAM, and a 128GB SSD. It's going for $699 and is out of Apple's warranty even though it's "new." The same vendor had an Acer 15.6" gaming laptop with an i7, 16GB RAM, and a 500GB SSD for about the same money. Unless you really need the super thin and light MacBook Air, you'd be far better off with the Acer.

All of which makes me wonder if Apple has squeezed all the blood out of the stone. I love the Apple environment, but I doubt I'll be buying another Apple laptop.

Seems to be a big shift to the watches now, maintaining but not growing other devices. Software/services like TV, streaming, music (content) are a path too.

Cloud connected to watch with music and streaming via AppleTV and an iPad or iMac and they’ve got most bases covered and a good growth platform.

I’m not a fanboy but I see remaining potential and a significant pivot going on now.

The article wasn't solid enough, in my opinion. I'm sure that's why Forbes got rid of it. It might not explode like it's done in previous years, but Apple will always be Apple

Apple is experiencing growth through service offerings like Apple Music which has more subscribers than Spotify and they just rolled out Apple News and Apple TV plus to tap into their huge subscriber base.

lol come on now. apple has been dropping phones three generations of technology behind and still dominate many phone markets. do judge it on its technology is only 10% of the battle. My 500 lenevo blows a macbook pro out the water. but APPLE is a very strong brand; as such it will continue to dominate. Because thats whats COOL

Apple = Cool and that is why they can sell technology that is behind the times... and get away with it. I'll pass.

I have a history of buying IBM Thinkpads for years, and the Thinkpad product line has been dead to me ever since the Lenovo deal to buy the brand happened.....

I have a different take on Apple products. I was a diehard windows / android person until I tried an apple product about 11 years ago. I currently use a 2009 iMac, 2012 MacBook Pro, 6S Plus iPhone and other related Apple stuff. All work flawlessly and have been work horses. Have not had issues or problems with them. They just work as intended.

Same. The OS is clean, doesn't crash as often and I've been getting much longer life out of them. Has nothing to do with being cool, just overall better value.

I have a work Lenovo that has practically identical specs to my Mac , yet the boot up, processing times and fan noises are all much worse than the Mac. But it was about $100 cheaper. I keep it in a drawer.
