Looking at 2008 535XI / 6 Speed Manual / Nav

Hi everyone,

I've been currently looking for a 335i/xi but have had no luck in terms of the options I've wanted. Now I've come across a 535xi and decided to check it out. Now can anyone tell me what common problems are with the 535? And what I should be looking out for when I do see and test drive the vehicle?

Vehicle is priced at $12,888 CAD

If anyone can let me know what they think about this and pros/cons of the vehicle, that would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

KBB lists the vehicle at ~14,000 US dollars for a vehicle w/ those specs from a dealership. Seeing that you're buying it for $9,600 US... I'd say it's a steal??

But I don't know of any reliability issues, etc.

I have a 2010 535 stick shift. It is very fun to drive, especially for the size of it. To your question though, there are issues though, and you will spend money on this car. But no more than a n54 335. I highly recommend buying an extended warranty. I refinance my 535 last month through Pen Fed credit union, and for $2.4k I got a 3 year/36k warranty. I refinanced because my last warranty paid in excess of $10,000 worth of repairs over a 2 year period.

check out the this forum/thread - there is a great pdf file in there for you to read: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=731460

Yes, it is very true. The CCC is not very good compared to the CIC. A lot of forum members who have a CCC look to do a CIC retrofit, it is worth it.

I'd def get history on the car. A high mileage N54 shouldn't be a worry- granted all the essentials have been looked after...I've got +150k on my 6speed 535xi daily...

Aside from the common N54 maladies & idiosyncrasies.

200Km on mine, waste gate rattles like crazy on mine and is beginning to boost leak albeit slightly.

1. Sun Roof seal
2. Change the fluids! (front, rear & center differential)! MUST DO
3. upper and lower control arms/thrust bushings wear quickly (usually 30-50k miles)
4. Output shafts on differentials may weep a little.
5. Comfort Seat thigh adjustment motor will blow if it's not already gone. They can be adjusted by hand or replaced for about $500 each.
