Watch Donations?

While this may seem odd - does anyone know of any watch donation locations? I have a few not-being-worn watches like Seikos and other similar, that I would like to donate somewhere. They aren't really worth trying to sell and ship so, if you know of any charities or foundations that accept donations of watches?

Nice thought I guess, but I doubt any charity has much use for inexpensive old watches. I think when people say you should give your time to charity they mean volunteering and not actual wrist watches

Look for a place that is going to have a charity auction, they would be happy to have them. They'll give you a form to declare its value as well.

Not my favorite group but I hadn't thought of them. Thanks.

You have a good thought to donate. Hospitals frequently have a thrift shop run by volunteers. The ARC and other charities are located in many cities with resale/thrift shops. It is sometimes very surprising what you find, fortunately many people want to pass on good things they no longer use. Good Luck!

i agree with you regarding goodwill. maybe a veterans-focus charity like purple heart or DAV would be better?

coincidentally, i just opened the bottom dresser draw in my closet and noticed that i've got about a dozen old quartz watches -- all of them need batteries, of course -- that i could donate as well.

are these quartz watches or mechanical watches ? if they are mechanical lots of people really like to work on the movements. Otto Frei in Oakland calif. would probably now where to send mechanical movement watches to for enthusiast to disassemble and re-assemble.

If possible I would look at the back of the watch cases for the module #'s (the quarts movement model #). Then google the module #'s and see if anyone is asking for them.

Particularly Seiko, if it's a movement from the right era then there may be a market for them.

The watches in question were donated to the Goodwill Stores. Gone. Thanks for everyone's input.
