Morning Dad!

Well, it's an analyst/project manager telecommunications corporate construction division role, what I do is inventory management and regional staffing for various construction contractors that do digging and tech installs for FTTP, FTTU, multi/single dwelling unit jobs, line repairs, plant maintenance, etc.; basically anything to do with COAX and fiber optics logistics.

I actually just met some super hillbilly white folks who were blacker than I was, and some Spanish dudes digging to lay some cables outside skilled nursing facility we are contracted with. I mostly deal with materials and hardware budgeting, management, stuff like that. It was nice to get my boots dirty! I miss my blue collar interactions, fucking white collar snobs can eat dick.

It's good to be in the field as much as possible. It keeps you sharp and in touch. I loved dragging chair-borne, REMFs to spend a day or two in front of th customers...it kept them honest.

You will get mad respect hanging with field and other support personnel...they really appreciate it and they have your back once they trust you.

Thanks Dad! You know, it made me formally realize that it shows stakeholders you are not out of touch with them, on many fronts; lots of contractors goof off and push deadlines, since it is a minimally supervised operation and we can't get out to every job site to monitor/check on every contractor, all the time. But it was a lovely experience, IMO.
