Suggest a "first" good watch.

save up and get an Oris or a Tag.

If you need one now, Bulova isn't bad, or u can go with a BMW watch. I believe the BMW watches are Swiss movement.

+1 to Seiko. My old watch was a nice looking Seiko, and it lasted over 5 years w/o needing to replace the battery.

You can buy a nice swiss timepiece used on a reputable watch forum for a decent price.

Save and get something a little bit better than a cheapo $200 watch. Just my 2 cents.

Hamilton's are nice entry watches with Swiss movements. You'll have to bump up to +$500.

Check out Bulova. My first dive watch when I got certified was an Accutron and served me well for years. I've since lost it and wish I still had it. Bulova makes a nice product.

i wear a g-shock and i'm definitely not a hipster...

it's a great watch that i can wear everyday without worrying about messing it up.

A Citizen Eco-drive should be in your price range. It's recharged by light. I have one that's still going strong after 8 years.

but the thread title is about suggesting a good watch. g-shocks are a step or two above happy meal watches and that's about it
