The DROID look like an interesting unit for sure.
Well for we die hard iPhone fans... it seems we will get the nifty Google Maps Nav soon enough: Apple already offers similar GPS capabilities on its iPhone 3GS maps applications, which leverages Google Maps data. However, Vic Gundotra, vice president of engineering at Google, said Google is working to build a version of Google Maps Navigation for the iPhone. I actually snagged the HTC Eris this weekend online - it should be here by tomorrow. I hear that it will be upgradeable to 2.0 sometime in Q1 2010, and I just really liked the form factor and interface more than the DROID. Plus, I have pretty big fingers and there is no way my paws can type on that keyboard. I am going to try it out for 30 days and if I like I'll keep it and ditch the iPhone...
Although hearing about the difficulty syncing with the car kind of makes me nervous... |

this is a pretty bad a$$ phone. been playing with my wife's phone all wknd. i love the multi apps stuff. tons of widgets to run in the background while i do other stuff. ringtones are pretty easy to put int. voice command works really well.

put me down for another love of the droid. there's not much to not love about it - blazing fast, only android phone that has 2.0, the screen (omg size and resolution), incredible free nav, not a single app that i need that i haven't found for free, and maybe the best part of it all is that it's not on a sucky network. gosh, AT&T is awful in chicago. i drop at least a few calls a week and in places where i do not get reception, all my TMO and VZW friends get full reception. i'm getting rid of my iphone for it. |
