Does it worth? 1979 BMW 320i $800

I saw a 1979 BMW 320i two-door automatic selling for $800. Is it a good price?

Man you gotta be kidding.
Is it in prime condition or a junker?
What kind of answer were you expecting with so little info? Even if you were to write 4 pages of info, to make a worthy statement on the value of a car thatīs so old you have to inspect it thorougly.

This thread is worthless right from the beginning....

No, it's not worth it.
$800 would buy me 8 pairs of shoes. I could do alot more walking....better for my health, lower emissions...

Buy it if it's a Baur. Otherwise, no. E21s are lovely cars, but an 800-buck one probably isn't - unless you want to start a restoration project.

I thought about it again after I made my last comment, and I realized that it's the year of 2005 now. And you know what? $800 is about right for a running or "needs-some-work-to-start" E21. I know someone who bought a non-running one for 400 bucks, did a few things to it and he's now autocrossing the car. You never know...

Thanks for the advise. The car looked in good shape from the outside, (paint, wheel, seats, etc.) I haven't reached the owner yet for detailed info. Maybe it's already sold.

a BMW auto that old will not function correctly

any car that old HAS to be a manual (not trying to get this all stirred up again, but older BMW auto's are not very reliable)

You are correct in saying that. But being such an old car, it's also very possible that the gearbox has already been rebuilt/replaced one or more times in the car's life.
