4x4 malfunction when wheel spin
Hello,
If this issue has been posted and solved before im sorry for reposting but I don't see any that matches my exact symptoms. I just bought my 2009 bmw 535i today I was attempting to make it up my driveway in the snow. When the tires began to spin the entire power to the tires was stopped. I then backed down my driveway to attempt again. This time I turned off DSC completely to see what would happen. Again I spun and the car cut power to the tires this time it said 4x4 malfunction on the idrive. I finally made it up my driveway after several tries but every time I would spin the car would immediately cut power to the wheels. Does anyone know what might be the cause of this issue? I don't get the 4x4 warning any other time but twice now in the snow. Any help would be great I live in Pennsylvania and we are bound to just get more snow im sure |

I have a 2010 535 x drive and have only seen occasional 4x4 warnings backing out of the drive which go away immediately. I drive on snow a lot but have winter tires and the car is fantastic in the snow and ice.
I am thinking either your car is normal but your tires are poor and the warning is simply because of the spinning, or if the tires are good then the warning is a real malfunction. We have a Jeep and an Audi Q7 and my BMW is better on Snow and ice than either of them (excep when so deep that I am ploughing!) so I think you should expect it to be great. Oh, another thought, if the battery voltage drops too low then it can trigger a 4x4 warning. |
Appreciate
