Hey yall!

2016 X1 without PDCs or rear backup camera. I have an aftermarket unit installed, but its never worked all that great honestly. Searching the forums there have been people asking if this retrofit can be done, but not seen conclusive opinions.

The only variable from the other posts I have seen is if the car has PDCs, then you can just add the camera as the harness is there. If it doesn't have PDCs, you are short of luck.

Any thoughts? Anyone able to do this?

Short answer;

There is a guy who did it on a mini here:

Mini shares the platform with our x1 F48 so the principle is the same but some parts are different.

Try to source the EBA, try to source it from a dealer or BMW specialis. It then also says which parts are included in the kit and which parts need to be bought separately.
