Ignore him. He is a troll and surprised he hasn't been banned yet by the admin/mods.

Well then he should shut the fuck up. All he is, is a little bitch running his fucking mouth. He should grow a pair of balls and enlist. Once he gets higher than you, then he can talk all the shit he wants. He isnt doing a god damn thing for this country.

Forged, whether you have seen combat time or not, you are helping to protect everyone of us Americans. I have a great amount of respect for you. As for limited_slip, he can kiss my ass because the only thing he has done is run his funking mouth on the internet...wow you're cool. Get a life.

I don't believe anyone who serves his/ her own country in any capacity can be labeled as a "coward".

I hate when people wikipedia stuff and make claims like that. Also the worse part is "you are just a cadet in ROTC in college"...I don't think people understand the commitment involved. Forget about prior service or not, this is what you do if you don't go to West Point or an OCS. Its very time demanding and physical. This is how officers are made. The military seems to take it serious its why they made it.

you made some pretty aggressive attacks, he calls you on it, and now you tell him to calm down because he is defending his honor? So basically your trying to say that if you were in his situation, you would do number 1-4 as well right?

Lets say yes, you can fallow your own advice and be very calm and not throw any punches when someone disrespects your honor, exactly what kind of horrible thing did he do to make you accuse him of such things and call him a coward?

if you don't have an answer for that than you should stop trying to make him look like the irrational angry screaming retard and respond to what he is asking you.

and that thing about ego... its not about ego, its about respect, and not everyone "checks" their respect at the door.

Being a coward has nothing to do with service. There are other words for that, most of them very positive in nature.

I will say, however, that bringing up your service anytime anyone makes a negative remark about you is borderline juvenile. While I will never discredit someone for their service, I will never think better of a person just because they mention they are in the military. In fact, I really dislike it when people are like, "well, I'm in the military.." or, "I go to the Academy.." like they should get a cookie for it. A returning veteran? Hell yes they should be honored. Someone heading out for deployment? Most definitely.

However, you come on here defending yourself with nothing but your service. What I see in that is a young kid who is stuck with the same comeback whenever someone challenges his ego. Just let the remarks slide off you and go on like normal.

this thread just calls attention to the problem and doesn't make anything better.

smartest and most mature idea is to ignore it.

I have found these military service threads somewhat entertaining. Primarily because I was in the military for several years. First of all, I do commend anyone who serves. The following comments are not directed at anyone; they just provide another opinion on some of the specific items discussed in this thread. In my opinion, no one is a hero just for serving, receiving badges just for completing basic training or being in the military is not an achievement (I don't consider mine an achievement), and being a ROTC "cadet" is nice, but nothing really that special. For full disclosure, I was an academy grad (so we naturally think that way about ROTC and other academies ), but we're glad to serve beside you. While we were in the active Army as cadets, it wasn't the "real" Army as you can imagine. Also, if you haven't served in the military you lack some degree of credibility concerning military topics (sort of like a football commentator who never played organized football or a business major heading up an engineering company). Finally, I would hope that anyone who joins the military would at least consider staying longer than their initial obligation, rather than just joining for some future education (or other) benefits.
