In no particular order, here are my favs:
  • Ghostbusters
  • Bladerunner
  • The Shining
  • The Thing
  • Predator
  • Trading Places
  • Back to the Future
  • IJ & The Last Crusade
  • The Untouchables
  • Aliens

Though, this is a damn hard exercise... maybe it should be top 25.

- Coming to America
- Conan the Barbarian
- ST2 - Wrath of Khan
- Spaceballs
- Empire Strikes Back
- Dune
- Ferris Beuller's Day Off
- The Goonies
- The Breakfast Club
- Risky Business
- Scrooged
- No Way out
- Robocop
Some really fine choices on here.
I would go with Raiders of the lost Ark, Empire strikes back, RoboCop, revenge of the nerds, airplane, aliens, platoon, Excalibur, Glory, Ferris Bueller

No love for the classic "Big Trouble in Little China"

That's one of my all-time favorites. I know it's cheesy and campy as hell, but I just love it. I'd also throw in the The Thing. Maybe I'm just a big Kurt Russell fan.

EDIT: I see now you have The Thing in there.

However... I was reminded as to why it's simply NOT worth my time and effort to even go to a Theater.
Overpriced concessions and annoying ass people are a huge turn off.
See to me - the theatre is the experience - must be a childhood thing. I love the huge dark room and immersive experience. I have a great system at home, but nothing like that.

I DO agree on the annoying people. I have been known to say something. If you come to the movie to be on your phone the entire time? Fuck off. If you come to the movies to talk the entire time? Fuck off. These are the people that need to stay at home - not us. There is a theatre an hour or so from me that I have never been too - but I'd love to support it. When you get there, you are told - no talking and no phones - period. They have a text line so people in the movie can text them (I get the irony) when someone is on their phone or talking and they will come and escort them out. You get TOSSED! I love it. It's terrible you have to even ask people not to be assholes, but here we are.

That is why I wait till movies are out for a month or so before I go and go in the middle of the week. My local one started a Tuesday deal where members can come for $5 and get a free small popcorn. I went this week, got my ticket, popcorn, milkdudes, and a large drink for $15. There were 6 other people in their with me and 5 were together, but several times I have went and been the only one in the entire theatre. It is great when that happens. LOL #peoplesuck

I think if more places cracked down on the cell phones, talking, and being babysitters - people would come tot he movies more.

LOL - it IS good, just not one of my favs.

I think was I was too young to appreciate it when it was new, and it never caught on with me.

I should re-watch.

Struggled with BTILC - I have some pretty big nostalgia for it, feel like it just didn't quite make the cut for me. I rewatched it recently, maybe that was my mistake

My better half didn't grow up watching it. I had her watch it recently..........I don't think I've ever heard so many sighs and groans and had her roll her eyes so much.

I still love it though.

"Okay. You people sit tight, hold the fort and keep the home fires burning. And if we’re not back by dawn… call the president."

"Like I told my last wife, I says, “Honey, I never drive faster than I can see. Besides that, it’s all in the reflexes.""

"Just remember what ol’ Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big ol’ storm right square in the eye and he says, “Give me your best shot, pal. I can take it."

Completely with you on this!

I actually pay extra to reserve seats. And I imagine for this particular theater, most people do. I actually waited to go on a Monday evening to avoid the madness.
And so this family of a came in looking for their seat numbers. The guy was obese, a 7 or 8 yr old boy and the mom. I'm thinking, hopefully she sits next to me of the 3.
Her inconsiderate, stupid ass had not one, but 2 phones. She alternated texting on them both. For the sake of me not possibly getting into a alternation in front of my own family, I decided to not say anything.
But this is the type of shit that just isn't worth it. Even for the "experience"... SMDH

I have left before and I have found if you leave within the first 15 minutes and tell them why - they will give you a refund or coupon for a free movie. Irritates me they do not police this more. I have been in a theatre before where the projectionist has opened the sliding door yell at someone to put their phone up. I don't know why this is not the norm. If you are not there to watch the movie - then don't come.

I can't do it. That is why I wait till movies are out for 3-5 weeks before I go - I can avoid the mannerless masses.

House of Gucci

Before watching it, I didn't know much about the history of Gucci, except that it's a well-known brand I didn't know much about. How believable it was, of course, to be judged by those who are familiar with the history, I was mildly surprised how very rich people do not know how to manage something that brings not only money, but also pleasure.

If you take the artistic component, the movie is great. The atmosphere of that time is so chic that you sink into it quite quickly, I would especially note the music, it underlines the style of that time, you listen and enjoy it.

I dunno about all these lazy 'remakes'/rehashes. Hollywood, if you're listening, remake ones that actually NEED to be re-made like the upcoming Salem's Lot, and I'd like to see Horror Express. I don't wanna see Spiderman #1,545, just ridiculous.

I also don't want remakes of movies that were already good.

Remake the stuff that had potential, but for various reasons, turned out to be less than what was needed to pull it off.

I don't mind that esp if it was very old and dated like Salem's Lot so it's ripe for a remake imho. Looking forward to it w new technologies to make it scarier.
