I'd move over if I saw them approaching quickly. No need to be a part of someone else's road rage

Many/most roads where this happens are two lanes though. Right turning traffic turns onto the right lane.
Left turning traffic onto left lane.

Are you referring exclusively to single lane roads (which are not that common)?

You're missing the point. He's talking about when a driver is making a left and goes immediately and the driver making the right has to either yield or almost gets rear ended.

To the original question, typical DB BMW mindset. First, what does the kind of car driven by the fastest driver in the left lane matter? Second, let me get this straight, the guy sitting in the left lane driving the speed limit or slightly above is an asshole to the guy in the BMW driving 90, but the guy in the BMW driving 90 is not an asshole to the guy in the Toyota driving 110? Let's all of us arbitrarily and personally set what acceptable left lane behavior is. Oh wait, that's what everyone does now and what frustrates everyone else. Either all people who hog the left / passing lane are assholes or none of them are. Can't have it both ways. Move over.

Reading through this thread is entertaining..

To the original question, it depends on the situations I am in. (Living in Germany) if I am in my 118i, I get over and let them through as soon as it is safe to do so. If I am in my 335i and just chilling I am almost always in the right lane with the cruise set, so if I am in the left it is only to pass slower traffic. If the dude/dudet is an ass, I have a little fun. I move over when it is safe and once they are even with me, I get on it and leave them standing there. 99.9% of the time they can’t even try to keep up.

As for turn signals when switching lanes, I always signal.
Some of my driving peeves are people using cell phones, not signaling and thinking a turn signal gives you the right of way. Another thing I hate is people with the “this is my lane” mentality. Nope, it is our lane and we need to play well together. Be polite to me and I will be polite to you, make eye contact with me and ask me to give you a little room to come in and I will help out if I can. Try to force your way in and you can eat a d!c&!
