Most reliable and effective cordless vacuum you've bought?
I'm looking to buy a cordless vacuum to vacuum about 2000 sq ft. I'm willing to spend whatever assuming it's reliable and has good suction.
Any direct experience and recommendations?

Its funny that you say that because we are bringing our Dyson in to get repaired today. Its about 28 months old. It is a bad ass cordless vacuum though.

Dyson V6 stick vac, love this thing for home and car. Got it cheap on Amazon a few years ago.

Dyson v7 - the one with the second head for hardwood floors (I think Animal). We use one for an 825 sq. ft. condo and the other as a second vacuum for quick work in our primary home (primary vacuum is Miele corded). Not sure how battery would last if really doing a thorough vacuum over the entire 2,000 sq. ft. as we have never run it all the way down. It would certainly work fine if vacuuming sections of the house at a time and charging in between.
There are some good comparison videos on YouTube. Shark also sounds like it has some good choices at a lot lower price. If you go with a Dyson, find an older model on sale. Costco has them on sale sometimes. Full disclosure, our first one arrived with a bad battery, which was replaced by Dyson.

I have two Sharks, one upstairs and one downstairs. One is 40-minute runtime and one is 50. Neither last that long if you use the high suction mode, obviously. Both are pretty decent for our house, which is all hard floor. We use them to keep on top of the cat hair and bits from the scratching posts and pads. For that, they work well. Just a quick cleanup every now and then. They're also way easier to use on the stairs than our corded canister vac.

We have a Dyson Cordless, probably V6, about 4+ years old, no issues, just occasionally gets a fur-ball too big that it makes noises and needs to be physically removed. Before that we had a Hoover cordless which was garbage, 1st one was replaced by the brand, second one was broken within a week. Sometimes its worth the extra $$$ for the Dyson, although we got a great deal at Bed Bath and Beyond and a nice warranty.

LOVE my Roomba. It's been happily doing my work for me for about 4 years now. No reliability issues, though he does tend to get himself stuck in one particular corner behind a chair so i have to remember to pull the chair back from the wall about 6 inches to give him a clear path.

I have a roomba upstairs, a roomba downstairs, and a dyson Animal V6 for in between and spills. Absolutely sold on the roombas--I havent done a 'full' vacuuming in years. And I'm about to replace a roomba, that has been cleaning my loft 4 days a week for 9 years.
They work really well for open spaces, and my loft is minimalist (essentialist, really) without a lot of furniture, nick nacks, or obstacles, so they are perfect. When I got the first one, the marketing material said they were not meant to replace a traditional vacuum, but that has changed. They are now deigned to replace a traditional vacuum. Highly reccomemnded. |

Have a Dyson V11, never had any issues with it. Also have a Wyze robot vac, I start it before leaving the house once in a while and the amount of stuff it picks up off what appears to already be a clean floor is amazing.

We have one of those Dyson stick vacs also which I reluctantly agreed to purchase because we were on the road (it was for the RV) and we had a Target gift card someone gave us and it was on sale.
Honestly I love it. Now that we are home we brought it back with us and between that and our robo shark vac that's all we use for our house which is like 2200 sqft. It's not great on carpet which we luckily don't have any, but I feel it struggle with the one area rug that's kind of shaggy. Works fine on thinner matts if you use it on the low suction setting. Can do the whole house on low setting. Might run out if doing a deeper clean. |
