I really dislike the Pappy 15. Was disappointed. Very unrefined. Something magical happens in those 8 years between the 15 year and the 23. If you are ever out West, try Pendelton. Maybe you can get it where you're at. Not sure how wide their distribution network is. Very easy drinking, smooth, good stuff. Reasonable price. https://pendletonwhisky.com/ I'm just now venturing into the Japanese whiskeys. They have some good stuff. Last edited by DETRoadster; 03-01-2019 at 02:06 PM.. |

For those who have places to hold up and ride it out, what type of backup generator do have? Not interested in the diesel powered big box store brand.

I'm using a 4500Watt gas unit. Not ideal, but a few years back during the ice storm it kept my fridge, and gas fireplace with fan running and lots of the lites....oh and the wifi, the most important thing for the children that were still living at home at the time. |

The World War Z book (not the lame-ass insultingly stupid Brad Pitt movie) covers a lot of the more successful strategies. If you can get into a nuclear strike hardened NORAD base or a nuclear submarine, they're great options. Else, hope to live in Europe where there are plenty of castles and fortresses strategically built to repel invaders on foot, or arctic outposts
Also you can hope to be in one of those countries where the central government stays intact long enough to set up safe zones where you can hunker down, rebuild a subsistence society, and prepare to STRIKE BACK! |

But seriously, my local dispatch center has my address in the system with a warning to the fire department: in case of fire, concentrate on this one room. It's basically a walk in closet fully stocked with ammo and other things. Goal is to make it 35 miles east out of the city to a friend's farm. He's got a natural gas generator, cows, corn, green houses, sniper tower. He's also the arms dealer for a lot of local PDs and he's always got plenty of stuff. |

mega yachts use a shitload of fuel. Where are you gonna get more of it? Considering that most of it's stored onshore and everyone will be fighting over it.
Which is why i mentioned nuclear submarines - no need to find fuel for a loooong time and you can hide from most things that might also be on the ocean surface. Although i would bash my brains out on a bulkhead if i had to live in those conditions for the rest of my life. Maybe a nuclear aircraft carrier? You'd just have to make damn sure there won't be an outbreak onboard or everyone is well and truly fucked |
