It'll be a street circuit so I'm hoping it won't be terrible but they absolutely haaaave to make a section on the strip. What a waste it would be not to. |

That's quite a straight. If I go I'll just get a balcony room and skip the tickets.

never been to an f1 race but this seems like a good one to get started with. hotel room would be nice for the view. but would be nice to see/feel the cars up close... and check out all the corners over a 3 day period.

Saturday night street race (10pm local time) - November 2023 (possibly coinciding with Thanksgiving weekend).

It doesn't look like a very inspiring track.
But it'll be good for business for sure, and scenery will be pretty interesting. Although I'd rather like to see a GP in Germany again (but then maybe ditch the GP in Saudi Arabia, but moneywise that's probably not gonna happen)

Imagine the helmet cam as they're flying at 300+ ks through the strip.
Even if it's a mediocre street circuit, that'll probably still be incredible to watch. |

I really hate street courses and this one is truly pretty boring; makes Monaco look like a real road course. No places to pass and that long straight is way too long (marketing gimmick). I was hoping that now that F1 is owned by a US company, they would build a real home track that's not named COTA. Or even better, redesign some of the classic tracks for today's F1 cars; but this probably won't happen either. With F1 popularity high now w/ new fans from Netflix, someone please build something!
On the other hand, going to the Montreal GP is incredible. A downtown circuit that's also a dedicated park/race track. Easy to get to since the subway drops you off right in front; no traffic nightmares of Austin and eventually Vegas. And with no 9/11 security restrictions, you can bring in 5 cases of beer and all the food you want. Hopefully one day in my life, the US will have just as good of an F1 show.

Sure wish they would but the surrounding area just doesn't have the hotels/restaurants/transportation infrastructure to satisfy today's F1 circus. It's a fantastic track. The first of the thirteen F1 races I attended was the 1965 USGP...the last was the last one the track hosted ('82). But it wasn't just the F1 race, it was the United States Road Racing Championship (USRRC), the Can-Am series, the TransAm series, and the 6hours of the Glen that had our yearly attention. These days, I still visit about every other year.
Thought I'd attach these photos of some of the memorabilia from attending over the years...check out the prices (still remember when the camping permit price was doubled to $2). |

I love Seneca Falls - I go out there for track days a few times a year. They'll need to change that track completely to make it a Grade 1 circuit which would ruin it but it's truly one of the best tracks of all time. I got upclose and personal with the blue barriers at turn 10 last year. |

The sad part about Watkins Glen is there is no Major infrastructure ie Hotels and such. The area does not support the POSH life after the circus leaves. Fantastic place my dad took me there as a kid to see the Can Am cars and I can still remember the feeling in my body as the they flew by.
Now as an adult I have ventured out for Nascar there and I have driven the full course and would gladly race there vs NHIS road course or say Thompson MS. Vegas blah a place I don't think I will ever visit. |

It's a good time and seems the new chassis is working out for them. Camp there it's fun people are for most part nice, granted you might get some unruly folks. Wished Lemons would go there, but Chump does.

That COTA race was something else. You guys should do some track days over there. I'll be at the Glen later this month.
