Why do couples sit on the same side at restaurants?

Because it's pretty difficult to reach the food she dropped down her top from across the table. When dinner is over, or after a few drinks, I can stabilize against her shoulder. I'm 52, she's older.

I'd agree same side sitters are younger and needy. Get older you wouldn't notice if SO was still in the car while you ate dinner.

Once you have kids a date night is pretty rare. Side sitting is a romantic way to be close and affectionate again as a couple. At home we sit across from each other to stop the kids from chucking food.

We do the same for many of the reasons already listed. We don’t always sit on the same side but when we do, it’s to be closer, share the menu (wife needs readers so I will read menu for her because she forgets to bring them), food or drink or so we can see the same tv if were in a sports bar or some place like Red Robin.

Nothing wrong with wanting to be close to your SO. The world could use more love, not less.

We've only done it for 2 reasons. Sitting with another couple or other people at a booth or if for some reason the seating sucks and one of us end up in the sun, next to some obnoxious people or something along those lines.

As far as I'm concerned those are the only acceptable reasons. I've read all the others given in this thread and I decline to accept them. That being said I say sit wherever the hell you want and own the fact you're some creepy weird mofos.

Agreed. That over the table business will get you thrown out of joint quick, fast and in a hurry......it will also get your girl a prime spot in a freak show for having an extra elbow.
