Yeah, there are little subtleties very easily picked up on my home Polk lsi9's, and not as easily in the car, but the BMW logic 7 definitely gets a from me!

anyone got detailed spec on the Logic 7 sound system?

Anyone added extra amp to supply ... 13 damn speakers?
how did they hook up 13 damn speakers to one headunit anyway?
Im guessing there are other amps supporting them.. maybe upgrading
those could improve. I don't know. I don't want to change the Headunit
on the BMW.. thats what honda owners do, but I don't think BMW wants
flashy headunit in its interior.

The Logic 7 is good for a stock player, if you are REALLY into music, add a sub in the trunk. The two 8" subs under the front seats sound ok, but they won't rattle your booty! :P

If rattleing your booty is what you consider beeing into music...

well some people crave hardcore bass when it comes down to music..
I don't see whats wrong with that.

I myself could use some extra bass also, but not to the point
where it'll rattle stuff. Just enough so that music sounds good.
I consider bass to be very important factor in music also.
Good music without bass support from speakers = sounds like crap.

The back parcel shelf has 4 speakers, two mid range ones and 2 tweeters. They are under two covers though, so look like 2 speakers.

If you counted those then it is the two subs under the seats like the previous guy said.

Audiophiles will want to add a sub in the back. The Logic 7 sounds good, but when its turned on, the soundstage really tends to move a lot towards the front of the car. More so that what I would like personally. You can try the cinema mode, but it creates a virtual surround sound which IMO sounds kinda fake.

A lot of people that are into hip hop, electronica etc might be dissapointed by the bass. On the other hand, the mids and highs sound great. There is a lot of detail which the sound system brings out. 8" subs really are just a big woofer, not really a sub woofer in my book.

yeah, not being an audiophile, I've noticed that it favors front speakers too much; I listen to lots of euro pop, so I had to use a fader to reduce the front speakers output, I also have it set on concet hall, I am not sure what else I could do. But overall, I think it better than Merc's Boss

It's kind of like the guy who can't just say he likes nice restaurants. Instead he calls himself a gourmet or a connoisseur.

I tested the standard and the logic 7 about 4 times with different music (radio/cd/mp3 player) and I thought the sound was night and day. You can crank the bass and the treble up much higher than the stock. I ended up paying the extra $1000+ just for the system. It was worth it to me......

Nah....I only own Designtechnica.com

BTW my understanding is that the Logic 7 is made by Lexicon, a Harman International upper-end brand.

Its a good system compared to most cars. But a 4" woofer for the mid-range and an 8" subwoofer for the bass is only OK in my opinion. This will limit the systems range, regardless of the brand of speaker.

Well, I'm a Professional Musician, TV Producer and Editor, and spend much of my time in Pro mixing studios filled with some of the best gear in the world, and have a very nice home system myself (Krell amp, Dynaudio loudspeakers) as well as a ProTools LE system. I didn't find the difference between the stock system and the Logic 7 worth the extra money. The big difference is that the Logic 7 system definately sounds better louder and has marginally better imaging. The stock system sounds a little cluttered in the mids and harsh at higher levels. Honestly, I think the bass is decent on both systems. A lot of pros don't prefer crazy subwoofers on cars- their crossovers enhance what wasn't meant to be there. We like the music to sound good flat.

For $1200 couldn't you put in a wicked subwoofer and use the stock speakers, which from what I've heard are pretty decent?

I do studio home recording and have a good ear, and though I haven't actually listened to the difference between the two sound systems, the most noticeable thing anyone will notice in a sound system is the subwoofers because that'll be what you actually "feel" all over your body.

So if you're looking for the best "bang for the buck" it'd probably be upgrading the part of the sound spectrum you'll "feel" the most. In other words, keep the standard sound system and install some killer sub woofers that'll shake your world.

If you disagree, feel free to let me know, because I'm just taking this chain of logic from my personal experience without actually hearing the difference between the stock and logic 7 surround system.

For the $1200, your 1000 watt subwoofer+amp is gonna way overpower the stock non-Logic 7 system. Unless that is what you want, LOTS of sub-bass thump...

Yeah $1200 is a lot of money for just a sub and an amp. I wouldn't waste my time with two 10" subs either. I would go for one 12" sub in a small box that won't take up much space in your trunk. If you listen to a lot of rock go for a ported encloser, if you like hip hop, go for sealed. Thats been my experience. If you want a quick solution, just attach the amp to the back of the sub box and you should be fine.

If you want a whole solution to show off, you can have things custom made if you want.
