BS calls on cell phone
How do I make it stop?!?!?! Occasionally I receive BS calls from a number that has the same area code and first three digits of my cell phone. After the first few times I answered, I started just blocking the caller. Sometimes I answer and try to say take me off your list, do not call me. When they were real people they would hang up. Now they are recordings. I just got 8 calls in 3 minutes. I actually answered the first one because I was waiting for a call and just grabbed the phone without paying attention to the caller ID. While I was on the phone trying to say stop freaking calling me, I have another call coming in. I swear I have to have close to every combination of the last 4 digits blocked. WTF?!?!?! How do I make it stop?

Download the app called HIYA, it works...for me at least! It identifies whether it's spam/fraud
But most of the time, I block those numbers that have the same first 6 digits including area code. |

I rarely get solicitation calls from other numbers. Once I say not interested, take me off your list, I don't hear from them again. |

This started happening to me over a year ago and it got to a point where I’d get 3-5 calls a day. Some of them where the first six numbers was the same as mine but mostly out of state numbers from all over the place. I actually had to put my phone on silent while sleeping cause the calls came at all times of the day and night. Finally had enough and changed my number that I’ve had for 15+ years a few months back.
First week I got what appears to be about 3 robocalls but nothing since. I really hesitated to change it but I’m really glad now that I did. Here’s hoping my luck continues. |

I get these too. Super annoying.
Also, I recently got a call that REALLY threw me off. It came up on my phone as the same areacode as I am in and even the same prefix as you mentioned, but I noticed a "+" in front of the number indicating an international call. My areacode is 248, the call was from the +24 country code, and was a scam caller. Had I answered it, the caller could have billed me at some outrageous amount of money ($20/minute for example). It literally looked JUST like a call from my area prefix, if it werent for the + at the front. |

So does my iPhone but the number rolls. As the OP noted, they use the same area code and first three digits of my cell number. I simply decline the call and block the number.

I worked in the cell phone industry for years. I don't feel like I need to clarify that they are scam calls, but the reason for continuing to get them is due to people that actually listen, believe and pay these crooks. They are extremely successful at what they do. If you fire 100 bullets at least 5 will hit the mark.
From what I understand there is no way to stop them. If you block that number, it will only come from a different number later. The local number that you are receiving a call from is an actual cell number to someone. The number is being cloned and used to make the call unbeknownst to the authorized user of the number. The more laws put in place to stop things like this only make the offenders become smarter and use different techniques. |

Google stock dialer has automatic spam blocking and ability to block numbers manually. The problem was that all those numbers are spooffed, different all the time, usually first 3 digits are the same as my number but there is no ability to block all numbers that start with those 3 digits. Someone suggested to me that I turn on call screening over at Google Voice settings, I've done that several days ago and so far I don't have any spam calls.
I also know that TMobile has some sort of feature that your can turn ON and spam gets blocked at the servers. Either that is working or I just don't get spam calls on that number. My other line is Project Fi (Google Voice) |

Try turning on call screening, have to go to Google Voice settings on PC. You would have to deal with pressing #1 to accept calls but so far I haven't gotten any spam yet (only tested for several days)

IF you don't answer the phone when I call, I can't give you all the money you are entitled to. I'm trying to make your day, and you are making mine difficult!!
