Hmm..well then. Is it cheaper to buy Sport seats, CF roof, etc on my own? That bumper though...

Some of the answers come across as guessing.

Like this one, "should" does not sound very reassuring or well thought out.

All his answers sounded very cagey, like there is some big secret he's trying to hide, IMO. Or maybe it was just lost in translation...

The only strait answer we got him is the fact that all the MP parts are dealer/port installed. Which was obvious to me, since I never heard of the factory installing an aftersale accessory.

Hard to say when its translated. Certain words/phrases aren't like for like.

25-30k to make the car still weigh more than the LCI hurts though. Cant imagine many shelling out for the full whack. Shows the panels are pretty much jewellery rather than dynamically transforming.

I doubt a lot of people in USA will be getting a CF. Having a dealer hack up your brand new M2 is a big issue.

Yes, because what MR posted is just Chrome auto translating the page from the link on 2ertalk.de

Don't think they will sell too many CF roofs then, which I guess is fine with BMW.

Maybe for MY2020 if they have a CS version or whatever with the parts factory installed they will add the option to factory install it on the Comp car.

I would still consider port installed I guess, because if it's fucked up you can harass them with the warranty. If they mess it up they might have to get you a new car.

Lol no shit - my former dealer in Texas didn’t center my CF spoiler AND left a scratch on the boot lid from the install. No cutting or anything, and that level of incompetence?

Yeah, not letting those dudes bring out the saws for my new M2C.

Hmm $85k pimped out m2. We can get a used m3 competition for less with better leather, carbon, etc. I'll be curious how the options add up. The hood and trunk will be easy DIY install, unless they require paint. I believe I read "prepped for paint" is that true?
Will be most curious to see if the brakes will be included in the US version... gotta have those red brakes no matter what!

this makes me sad but i will likely get the other CF bits but certainly not the roof. i will use film instead to capture the look.

i must assume that the dealers will also be painting the bonnet and boot lids locally and that is equally troublesome. so likely i will forego those as well.

Port install. That way work is done prior to accepting car, covered under full warranty, no install cost.

This is an interesting issue... it if's dealer installed and not done correctly.. the issue of how to resolve that would rest with the DEALER.. not BMW NA or AG...

Classic BMW's (just an educated guess) body shop doesn't get the best ratings... hehehe..

but hey.. they will get practice installing M2 Competition roofs.. that way when a hail storm happens... they will be ready..

Great guess, and glad to be rid of that service department.

On a separate visit, they backed into something and scratched my rear bumper, then tired to offer to fix it for a fee.

Haven’t been back since....had much better luck with autobahn in ft worth.

If the CF roof and hood cost like 10k installed, I am guessing you have to itemize that 'customization' with your insurance company..

I doubt they'll feel obligated to pay for thousands of dollars in extra customization if you didn't properly documented and underwrite it accordingly...

As it's been discussed before, if you order these parts with the car, they will be on the window sticker and you won't have to itemize a single thing with your insurance company. Another advantage of port install...

In the event of a total loss , (or even a hail claim for the CF roof.. ) you will find you might need to fax in that dealer invoice. VIN decoding won't pick up the port , or dealer installed items so you will need to send your build sheet for a proper total loss valuation.

Ask me how I know ... ?
I'm the guy that gets to review your dealer build sheet.

BELIEVE me.. it's worth taking sixty seconds to scan or fax it to your insurer. Don't be lazy here and expect that your insurance company is omnipotent ..

Thanks bro, will my insurance company (Geico) surcharge me for the "customizations" if I do document it with a photo inspection, prior to any claims? Or will the standard collision/comprehensive rates remain the same ?

Thanks for the tips! Couple weeks ago a friend of mine totalled his 2016 AY M4 with every single CF accessory and MPE. All the parts were port installed and listed on his window sticker. When the insurance company (Mercury) was determining the payout amount, all he did was to send a pic of his window sticker to Mercury. They paid above the current market value for the car itself plus the full price of every M performance part listed on the window sticker. That's why I believe having these expensive parts listed on your window sticker is very important.

Edit: Not sure if this is true (maybe you can clarify) but I have a feeling an insurance company would jack up the quote if they saw, let's say, $90K invoice/window sticker for a $65K car. That's why I'd rather not share my window sticker/invoice with them unless I have to. In the event of an accident, they usually ask you for the receipts of those parts and a window sticker or invoice is sufficient.
