Yeah 400-500 is too much for a shoe that falls apart ): sadly, people just pay for the logo nowadays

I’m a bit of a shoe whore, but here are most of my dress shoes:

EDIT- Someone mentioned John Lobb's which are badass shoes, but they're a bit out of my price range so I can't say I've owned a pair.
Now that's a collection!!!!

I'll have to check them out. Thanks for the advice!

Normally I spend my money on paintball, cars, activities (skydiving, cage diving, diving in general, vacations), computers and shit like that. Recently my gf has gotten me to change my style quite a bit. She's never mentioned this brand so I'll have to check it out. I'll give you credit for mentioning it though lol.

For everyday/gym shoes, Puma all the way though.

Allen Edmonds Mcallister or Cole Haan Lunargrand Wingtip to work.
Nike Lunar TR1 or Lunar Glide 3 to gym.
A selection of Sperry Topsiders to lake, pool, or casual.
New Balance 574 for running about (grocery store, traveling, causal)
Timberland Scramble for hiking and camping.
Tony Lama, Ariat, and Nocona Boots. Because I'm TEXAN, which is American. I wear them sometimes to work, to the ranch, anytime I feel like kicking some shit around.

Allen Edmonds mostly caters to men which may be why. They sell women’s shoes, but I rarely see anyone wearing a pair (at least in my profession). If you see anyone wearing a pair they’re either an executive or they know something about shoes (I certainly fall into the second category).

My favorite pairs are the Park Avenues (simple oxford style), Sanford (cap toe with a simple design), McCallisters (wing tip), and my top favorite: Strand (brogue pattern).

It depends what you’re looking for, but my favorite shoe AE makes is the walnut colored “Strand.” You can wear them with a suit or with jeans. They’re technically not a wingtip, but it’s a good compromise between a conservative design and going to a full wingtip.

Also, I’d highly recommend using shoe trees for all your dress shoes. It’s amazing how much longer they’ll last and keep their shape. Plus, they’ll keep them smelling brand new. I usually buy them on sale for under $10/each. It’s worth the investment on a $300+ pair of shoes.

EDIT- Depending on how much you walk, I'd avoid their rubber soled shoes. I have a pair of AE Tribecas and the rubber grooves wore out fast. I wore the hell out of them, but you can't recraft their rubber soled shoes (look into AE's "recrafting" on their website).

Not true. I wore Cole Haan Nike Air for 6 years and then switched to Johnston and Murphy. The trouble with the Cole Haan Nike Air is that the Heel is great, but the rest of the sole has no cushioning whatsoever. The Johnston and Murphy seems to have a air suspension effect along the whole shoe. Much more comfortable for walking in.

from my experience they run pretty narrow, especially the driving shoes, but i haven't worn a pair in a couple years so don't quote me on that haha

my buddy has flat feet and he swears by the new balance 574's? i believe that's the model.
