Giving my old Makita table saw to my nephew. I would appreciate some input on an excellent replacement. What do you guys recommend? Hoping to also have a router attachment (not sure that's legal in the US...)

I am trying to come up with some kind of carpentry pun for this thread, but I just can’t think of one that woodwork.

Not a wood worker per se, but Saw Stop; specifically PSC175.

I wholeheartedly agree on the Saw Stop recommendation. Solid build and great safety feature.

As someone who has used most of the job site/portable table saws over the years I recommend one, and only one, as a good , all-round saw. The Bosch Worksite Table Saw.

I have used this model for many years and I have no complaints whatsoever.
I was using a Ridgid portable table saw yesterday and the crank handle that raises and lowers the blade broke. It was a plastic handle with a "D" shaped hole to fit on the shaft. The "D" shaped hole split down the side and would not turn the shaft. The saw is useless until the crank handle is replaced. It shut down that job for the day.

We use an ancient Delta 5hp Unisaw in the shop (daily use manufacturing) but they likely still make the same model.
We use a 5HP for occasional 1-3/4" LVL ripping, a lighter duty 1-3HP saw would be fine for most people.

Had tried the Saw Stop brand but it ended up triggering on wet or sappy wood so we decided not to go with those. It just wasn't practical for manufacturing purposes. The best safety is strict training and staying the heck away from the blade with a pusher stick. If it's for personal or smaller scale use then it should be fine go with Saw Stop.

Table saws are ironically the most dangerous because of their stationary blades. You would think swinging around a chainsaw or circular saw would be but that's not exactly the case.

Whatever you decide on, stay safe!

Good question, I should have been more clear. Yes, not a job site portable per se' but one on a stand that I can move around my shop.

Check out the Bosch that I linked in an earlier post. It's on a stand that folds with one hand for convenient storage. It was rated as the best by Woodworker magazine in their tablesaw shoot-out a few years ago.

Thanks. I looked at it this morning. I think I'd prefer a stand not designed for portable jobsite work, hopefully Bosch makes such a stand base for it.

TIA __________________ A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission.
