I had a job at 18 repairing whitewall tires for car dealers.

I think that might get me a pass to gently walk across your lawn one time.

I LOVE those organ pipe six by nines!

I got some knee pain when I went for my walk last night. Don't like that. Made me walk faster. I love my walk, I need my walk. Fresh air, night time sky, heart pounding, deep breathing. Makes me feel alive. Hope I'm still doing it when I'm 86.

I went to EBay just for curiosity and I found this ad. Seller says it's never been outside yet the photo was clearly taken on the lawn.

When we were kids, dad would occasionally electrocute hot dogs at the dinner table. He made the device in high school. It was simply 2 spikes sticking up through a piece pine with an AC cord and a switch. He would stick on 3 or 4 hot dogs and flip the switch. Nothing much happened for a minute or so. Steam would start coming out of the holes in the hot dogs, followed by the hot dogs swelling up. It was really fun to watch.

As to safety, dad simply told us not to touch the spikes. And we didn't.

Imagine that today.
When I was in 6th grade, I did a science fair project that was well planned with all the poster boards and all the research, along with my hypothesis and conclusion. About a day before the fair I made another setup to put on the same table just to have some fun, which was similar to what you described except I called it "The Glowing Pickle" using a pickle instead of a hot dog.

I sourced a bunch of random stuff from my father's 'cool boxes' in the garage such as lamp wire, and household light toggle switch. When you turn the power on the pickle would glow because of the arc through the salty pickle brine. Even at 11 years old I was smart enough to wire up a circuit breaker in-line just in case, though it was still a ridiculously dangerous setup around a ton of middle school kids. The funny thing is I won some award because of that, despite not having anything to explain the science behind it.

I saw some ridiculous photo recently of an old car with the caption:

"We think we're so much smarter these days, but 50 years ago the owners manual told you how to adjust the valves. Today it tells you not to drink the contents of the battery."

2 of my collector cars the tool kits came with cam belts so you can change the cam belt on the side of the road if it breaks while driving.

Also came with other accessory belts. I'll have to read the book to see if they instruct you on how to adjust the valves or any other items like that.

Hand crank meat grinder

My mom used one of these. Looking at the name of the tool, it might've been made in the UK. Heh!

This is so funny to watch after a baseball game. People will go in to the stadium where first base is, and sit down at third base. Getting out of the stadium all looks the same, until they reach the parking lot.
