Rash Guards vs wick away t-shirts, your opinion?

Hi guys,
Is there any real advantage to a best bjj rash guard vs a wick away t-shirt? If so is the the long sleeves one better then the short. I'm guessing it's just a matter of preference but I figured who better to ask then the guys/girls using them.

Thanks

What r u going to use it for ?

I only like wicking t-shirts as a base layer on winter layering outfits.

But I do like sun protection shirts in the summer, I have a Patagonia long sleeve summer hoody with a 50 factor sun protection.
But Im not really familiar with rash guard, but I think I would find it uncomfortable.

I'm thinking that rash guards were developed for surfing. Neck and/or armpit areas of wet suits can give some people rashes. As well as wax rubbing on bare skin in warm conditions.

Rash guards (surfing) are for the friction points where the wetsuit constantly rubs on skin (armpits and neck were the worst) I remember back in the day, mom AND one girlfriend thought I was getting extra action my neck was so badly rashed.

If it's warm enough to just trunk it, getting a little wax on the chest is actually good for you!

You can't win a marathon w/o putting a few band-aids on your nipples!
