Any Chumpers in here?
Seeing as there is a lot of BMW's driving in the Chump Car series, figured there may be some other Chumpers around.
For those that don't know, here is a link to the Chump Car World Series website. Basically they are endurance races (7-25 hours) using cars where the purchase price of the car, included with the price associated to any performance mods, added together is under $500. True grassroots racing. http://chumpcar.com/ Or is this too low class for the 1addicts forum. LOL! Our team (Bytown Brawlers) are racing what is mostly an 88 CRX in the Canadian races of the series. We had a lot of fun at Shannonville last month, and we are looking forward to the Calabogie race on Sept 28th and 29th. Here is a pic of our car before this season started, it is much uglier now (see bottom pic) with 5 or 6 tire donut marks on the fenders, door panels and rear 1/4 panels. None of them by me thank you very much..... |

Honestly, I have raced/crewed/officiated at many different levels of motorsport (amateur, semi-pro, pro etc etc etc) and have never had as much fun as I do when racing Chump. It is a completely different attitude, and by far the best racing and best bang for the buck racing.

Haha it's not really a $500 rule. They basically have a list of cars that they consider "$500" cars. The 1992-1995 e36 325i/is is on the list.
And the car actually was a $500 car when we started. There is no limit on spending for safety and prep. The car is bone stock except for safety equipment and refreshed OEM parts. Here's what it started as: |

Looks good! Is the E36 325 one of the cars that must remain completely stock as per the rules? We have a couple more E36's that are being built by people around here.

Back from the dead.
Long time Chump Canadian racer, close to 60 events raced in the states and Canada. Don't really want to say the team name as it will haunt/implicate me to no end if people know I own a BMW. |
