I have certified vehicle (from dealership) e60 2008 535xi and it had a lot of repairs. Maybe this is just my vehicle, I'm not sure.
List of (major) repairs which were done on my vehicle: Dec 2010 - Replaced High Pressure Fuel Pump Mar 2011 - Replaced both cat converters Jun 2011 - Replaced both vanos solenoid valves Jul 2011 - Found BRG Ledges excessively worn, replaced both intake/exhaust camshaft ledges and 4 hook ring seals Oct 2011 - Neither valve was sealing. Replaced both turbos Sep 2012 - Replaced 110Ah Battery with new 90Ah. Performed retrofit coding Aug 2013 - Replaced Water Pump Aug 2013 - Replaced all 6 Fuel Injectors I'm not sure if I will keep my vehicle after certified warranty expires, I'm still thinking. |

Depends on which E60...
545 have issues with SMG and oil leaks 535 has issues with HPFP, fuel injectors, turbo waste gates, VANOS. 528, 530, 550 are pretty solid from what I've seen. BMW also just released a safety notice regarding faulty tail lights on LCI models (~2008-2010). As the previous post said, LMGTFY. Choose the model you want, then find a forum that talks about the engine, ie, 535 => N54/N55 engine. Good luck! |
