Music Videos...are they going extinct?

Like the local radio DJ do you guys thing that music videos are going extinct?
I remember the day...god i'm dating my self...when a music video was something you looked forward to.
And when they came out they were something....almost mini movies.
Case in point two mega bands, and old video....We Come 1 by Faithless
http://www.alltimeclubbing.com/video...less-we-come-1

and No Church in the Wild

Both mazing videos, i hope there will be more videos that carry such emotion in the future.
What are your thoughts?

They're not going anywhere but they've changed outlets. There is no point to showing them on TV because the on-demand nature of YouTube has made TV completely obsolete for distribution. The Gangnam Style video has over a billion views...

I DL them and play them via DLNA from a server. It's good background alternative when people come over the house. Video is playing and you get some iCandy when you DL certain songs...

No, I think there are far more. When you saw videos on MTV, you would largely see the same 25 videos over and over again. Now, thanks to youtube, they are much more widely distributed and many more artists receive "airtime", per se. They no longer make a big deal about them so maybe you just miss the pomp and circumstance of the old "Making the Video" shows?

well there are still a few good ones that seem to have something going for them
M83

AWAL Nation

though this one is a mash up video.....the official one is less amazing?
this song has made me do some very very VERY dumb shit....hop and pop at 3k ft? yeah sure!

And let's not forget Skrillex

and see even their take on xmass is a little nuts,

Music videos use to be the stepping stone for young and daring directors and creators to try new things and see what would happen?

And then well you have an amazingly creative band like Ok Go

Haha, a friend of mine recently mentioned this as well. KingofJericho is right though, music videos are just as popular if not more so now compared to when they still were on MTV. It's a combination of people wanting the instant gratification of watching a video at anytime, and the ability of artists to get their videos/music out there for the public to see which may not have happened with MTV previously. I also don't think the local DJ is completely extinct yet. There is a morning show on a local station in my area that I listen to all the time because of the hilarity they add to my morning drive.

That was a pretty cool video, and I like the track too. It reminded me of those old choose-your-own-adventure books.

music videos still exist - probably 40% more today than they did in the 80's.....

you won't find them on MTV though - because MTV is now a collective cess pool of sloppy idiots who are allergic to making good decisions.

like someone else posted, you can find anything on youtube now.

i have Dish Network, and they have a channel called "Palladia" - they run a block of videos for about 3 or 4 hours straight. well, with commercials, but they play ALL KINDS of videos.

they may have stopped running videos after 2006 because when reading the info on one of those blocks, it says something like "as featured in 2006".

they play rock, hip hop, country, etc.....

BUT, i got about 110-120 music videos on my phone that i purchased from itunes - sometimes i set my phone on it's side and let the videos play one after the other.

got some Johnny Cash, Carrie Underwood, Sublime, Outkast, Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi, Beastie Boys, Black Eyed Peas, Scarface, Brad Paisley, James Brown, CCR, House of Pain, BIG, etc

that is my most random playlist i have, because of the different genres that i purchased....

imagine going with Alan Jackson for one video, then getting hit with "Beautiful People" on the very next video HAHAHA !!!!
