Might be out of the loop, but doesn't BMW usually go to the next letter?

If the current one is G30, shouldn't this be HXX?

Looks like the grills will be sized close to the current G11LCI and the rear window design looks similar to the G20's (kink separated from the door). What they really need to improve this generation is the driving feel.

And like the G70 7er's.
Visually stretching the greenhouse backwards and emphasizing the classic BMW 'cab backward' profile; which will partially make up for the hoods and prestige gaps inevitably shrinking with the advent of the electric era, and will cover some of the extra sheetmetal generated on the C pillar by the more sloping roofline.
And allowing for a nice and thick trim end piece (inlaid on the C pillar, wouldn't be possible on the door) which accentuates the H-Kink and accelerates the greenhouse outline as if it were painted by a single brush stroke.

Call me crazy but if BMW sedans became hatchbacks, I wouldn't mind one bit. More trunk space, sleeker design, help reduce the need for SUV's...sounds good to me.

Camo prints have surely gotten better, I find that this hides a lot compared to the older patterns they used.

Appears like a magnified G20 with a steeper rear. Please BMW donīt copy VW & Benz with another ridicolous horizontal LED bar at the rear.

The rear kind of reminds me of the old Infiniti J30. I'll refrain from additional comments.

Definitely has some E39 vibe to it. Looking forward to seeing how it shapes up.

No - the 3 series was the E21, then E30, 36, 46, 90/92, before switching to the F chassis. They run out of numbers then go to the next letter.

His name is Dukec and according to him "Hofmeister was just another designer…"

BMW 5 series has a difficult place in the product lineup: always between the 3/4 series and 7/8 series. As 3/4 series vehicles get larger, 5 series cannot get progressively larger as the 5 series will lose differentiation with 7/8 series.

So BMW has to come up with a different strategy to create a unique place for 5 series.

Looking forward to the production launch.

The slope of the trunk seems to be close to that of the Genesis G80.
