You mentioned something about pulling 485 and I wasn't impressed because lifting heavy has never helped a person throw a real punch, I'm not making that up- that's sports science. Different forces of motion, and believe it or not- wasn't a shot at you.

I remember, I'm not on the roids, so I got you

Well , it wasn't 3OT which I wanted, but OT would made both team players tired.

You are correct but pitting a 175 lber against 205 of equal skill the weight is definite advantage in power that's why they have weight classes. I also know any dude I've known that pulls 700 plus I ain't messing with. Don't want to test your theory.

Well yeah- you're absolutely correct about that.

But put a 175lb man who knows how to fight against a 200lb+ man who doesn't know how to fight but lifts heavy- different story.

You may not want to mess with them, but I've had my share of fights in my day (boxing) They don't scare me

Unless said bigger man gets ahold of you and your done. Weight advantage is even greater then and that power comes into play further.

Well if he hugs/squeezes me to death, I'd surely deserve that embarrassing death.

Mr.SugarSkulls - As a boxer, then you of all peeps should understand the difference in weight classes - and what it means to the participants. Even for other sports (weight lifting, MMA, etc)?

We're not talking sports though- were talking about a run of the mill street fight between a 175 lb man who can fight over a 200+lb man who goes to the gym, lifts heavy- yet throws wide punches with the force of his arms rather than his back.

Was just referring to mma vs boxing. Some big monkey gets ahold of you that outweighs you and is way stronger and it's big troubles. Hell even big fat guys are strong as shit just from having to carry their own ass around.

So, the 200 lb man can't fight, but the 175 lb man can fight? How's that and apples to apples comparison?

25 lb to the average person in a street fight doesn't mean that much...

I took your point to mean that Floyd could fight Mike Tyson and stand a chance?

Why is it most gym rats do this?!?! I think it's because they've spend several hours a day for several years trying to isolate the use of specific muscle groups.

I have a friend who's twice my size help me move and i tell you i could have gone to the local sorority and got a chick that would have been more helpful. He was dumbfounded at how i could lift such furniture effortlessly compared to his struggles. He hit like a girl too. Too funny.

Again, if you read through the thread- before chiming in- we already established that this is NOT professional fighting were talking about, at least not me.

1moremod and I both agreed it makes a huge difference in weight classes when both fighters are trained and licensed. So how the hell did you get Floyd vs Tyson from all this? Just throwing useless opinions in again on a conversation that had nothing to do with you
Got it. Carry on.

I knew a freak of an athlete who played pro ball tell me once:

It's not how much weight you move, but rather how you move the weight.

Don't get mad Sugartits - just clarifying your confusing post about how a street fight would turn out between 2 guys: 1 who likes to street brawl and one that like to lift heavy shit.

Got it..................................?

I'd much rather fight a 225 pound 10% body fat gym rat than a 225 pound over weight construction worker. lol

That's exactly my point. Most pump iron for the intimidation factor however never learn how to use that mass properly. Lifting in a gym, especially heavy weight requires very specific techniques that is unnatural in every day life.

And most people assume "omg he's huge! He could kill me with one blow!" Which is far from the truth.

However- if he has a background in fighting+ the natural strength of a body builder- it's lights outs for most.

Just come on down to SoCal and we'll make an example of all this

Btw I never said someone who likes to street brawl. I said someone who knows how to fight. Huge difference.
