535i system is also dual, but the tips couldnt be placed far apart because the spare tire well is in the way

Next in line are the X series:X5 and the X3.

Its functional on the 335... two turbos means that you have two downpipes and two seperate exhaust pipes leading into two mufflers. On the 535 if space was an issue then they probably merged the two into a single muffler, but I haven't seen any parts diagrams yet. I would think that they would want a more subtle look anyway for the 5 series, and also to have it look that much more different then the M5. They could also put a dual exhaust on a 745, but that's not the style that they are going after IMO.

I wouldnt even get a 550i now. even though there is a 60hp and 60 lb/ft of torque difference, look at the pricing difference.

Who was it that described the N54 as "the engine that BMW engineers are putting in everything but their coffee?"

re: 535 vs 550 I think there's a substantial stock-equipment difference beyond the power train. The 5er models always seemed more like trim levels (to me at least) than the 3er models, so I doubt someone looking for a top-level 5er is going to be swayed too strongly by hp/$.

agreed. LIke Fleet said the 5 series is more executive looking than the 3.
With dual exhaust pipes the 335 looks more sporty and it actually matches the car's athletic stance. Dual exhaust on a 535 would make it look out of place.

I don't know what happened but I just drove the 750Li on Sun.--I assume that has 360 HP. It roared nicely but didn't feel that fast...I drove a 745i 2 years ago and that seemed more peppy, and I think that was around 317??? Both were sport packaged, but maybe the Li is even heavier due to the L.

No dual exhaust and a hideous front bumber ruins that car for me.

I drove past a 5'er today that had angel eyes as bright as the new X5 and E92, I'm guessing it was an '08 car, I didn't really have the chance to take a better look at the bumpers.

The E60 doesn't weigh much more than the E90 due to the use of lightweight front end components.

ksfrogman is right. An '06 330i vs an '06 530i were only off by 12kg, it should more or less be the same for the TT engine version, unless BMW decided to equip more things standard into the facelifted 5 which would increase it's base weight by comparison.
