+1
Virtually the same perfromance in most driving situations, especially with a tune and far better fuel economy.

a 535i will have to be an 08 and will be big bucks. I'd love to get a 535i though. It would be perfect. Only downside is the single exhaust. I just dont understand bmw sometimes.

Yes, and a very sweet one at that. Very fast very torquey and sounds great. Only downside as others have said is the fuel economy.

You would not choose a 535 based on the exhaust treatment?? I'm pretty sure there are two cats and the outlet is on one side. The earlier GTO's were like that. When I drove the Alpina B7, it had two outlets on the same side. Who cares about whether they look like duals or not. Small Kia suvs have the fake dual look, as do Pontiac G6's. It's all about the way they drive.

I never said thats why I wouldnt buy it. I said it would have to be an 08 which would be big bucks. You can get a loaded 545i now for a great price.

the difference between the 545 and the 550 is 35 hp and .1 sec faster 0-60. oh and the 545 gets waaay better fuel economy than the 550. trust me i did my research before i got my car. plus the 550 is really only faster once you hit triple digits

Just for the record...I've driven both 535i and 550i on the track (back to back), both with sports suspension, and I preferred the power delivery, growl, and smoothness of the 550i over 535i.

An easy way to determine the HP is by looking at the model numbers. for example, 525i has 250 HP. 530i has 300HP. and 545i has 450HP. I highly recommend sharing this tidbit with all your friends. It will surely impress them.

I believe 333bhp is on the european models. Here in the states it is rated at 325hp/330tq. I have an 04 and love it. Like mentioned earlier, there is a 35 hp difference between the 545i and the 550. This is noticeable only above triple digits. Otherwise 0-60 and 1/4 mile are about the same. I get about 22mpg. 80% highway 20% city. I love the car. Is it step, smg or stick? Some folks on the E60 Forums (Love that site!!!!!) who had bothe the 545i and the 550i state the 545 actually felt a little quicker. I believe the 550 is more refined and that is why you dont really feel the extra 35hp below 100mph. Good Luck. Keep us posted.

This is a 550i with a racing dynamics exhaust. Looks great and the 545i can be equiped with the same exhaust. I rather have the dual exhaust look also. Looks much better than the single side exhaust.

I'm also looking to get a 545i 6 speed. The prices are great now. They're practically giving them away.
