He's in CA, so you're probably right, but it also looks very much like a golf course in Bar Harbor, Maine.

The cropped picture showing a bit of the buildings were good enough clues.

Bingo!

It's the 18th hole at the Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay.

I wanted to leave a little clue, otherwise its just more coastline. Apparently, your sleuth skills don't need very much of a hint.

Those buildings are not the main hotel. It's a lovely place to stay, but we often just go for lunch and a walk when we need an ocean fix.

To build that hotel at that location, they had to agree to provide public access to the coastline. Ritz Carlton even provides a few spots of free parking for beach goers.

You are correct. If you get to Sydney, it is a great day trip by ferry to Manly Beach. This pool is along the walkway between Manly Beach and Shelly Beach.

My wife and I really loved Sydney and we would go back in a heartbeat.

Me too

My Father was in the Army and, after initial training, he went to the School of Artillery at North Head, about a thirty minute walk form the pool.

My Brother and I used to roam the streets and we would often end up in the pool.

A long time ago!

I had to go and find this, my Father is fourth from the right in the back row.

This was 1974 if I remember correctly.

Nice, we lived in a unit on the Harbour side near the ferry pier.

We used to "borrow" glass bottles from behind the restaurant next to the shark tank (now called Oceanworld) and get the refund, happy days indeed!

Not my pic.
