Unhappy New TV and...

I love our old tv because it's clear we don't value sitting and watching TV when you walk into our house. I actually like the statement that it makes. I also like how when we watch it our minds are 100% certain we are not experiencing what we are watching, which is what the newer tv's can do since they are so large and so clear these days. But happy wife, happy life. So for the living room she's picked this TV out and these speakers out. I know this board has some experienced individuals here so can you confirm if this is a good buy. Should we wait, is it overpriced, or about right?

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung...E&gclsrc=aw.ds

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sonos-a...?skuId=6411132

And while we're at it Can anyone suggest a dishwasher, oven (not gas), microwave combo (our fridge is brand new) they actually like, but not crazy expensive, does that exist?

Thank you.

Well besides the fact that my wife wants what she wants. This TV can't connect to a wireless sound bar and we know we want to start adding SONOS around the house starting with that $800 soundbar I posted.

I recently had to get rid of my Sony in my bedroom. Sadly it was less then 5 years new. All of the TV’s in my house are Sonys ranging from an older 40” to an 85”. After some research we decided to try a Hisense U8N. Honestly for the price…. I can’t complain. It’s bright. Better sound then the Sony it replaced. Check them out. It’s not bad.

Not a tv expert but OLED tv's offer a better picture quality...the blacks are blacker because each pixel can be turned on or off in simple terms.

That is a good TV and a nice soundbar for expanding to a whole house system. I have both LG and Samsung TVs and like them both. I prefer the Samsungs streaming channels to the LG, but it is not a big deal, either way.

As you know, there is a vast range of pricing. But, it doesn't sound like you are looking for something really high end. I pay attention to the. number of HDMI and USB ports, this one has plenty.

This set is designed with a minimalist bezel and slim design, which is nice. OLEDs tend to be better, and tend to be more expensive.

If both the soundbar and TV have bluetooth they should connect wirelessly. But mine is wired, so I have no real experience with that. HDMI will sound better and is less likely to have delay issues.

All the other Sonos components should be unaffected. I do have a soundbar with wireless surround and subwoofer, but the soundbar itself is HDMI to the TV (eARC).

My experience with BB is their sale prices are good. From what I have observed, Sonos is one of those brands that doesn't really go on sale.

Growing up my pops passed around the TV Guide and made us pick the shows we wanted to watch because he didn't allow channel surfing at home. You either did chores, homework, a hobby or watched the show you picked on a schedule.

So, we have a 65 in 720 LCD that we only watch for movies and TV shows we choose.

Now, the time I waste on social media is another story but pops didn't know that would be a thing. Although he did berate us for sitting too close to the 17 in Sony we had in spite of the fact I now sit 18" in front of a computer monitor 60 hours a week.

You can't win them all.

Just scored a 50" Insignia LED 4K TV for $250, plus got myself a five-year Geek Squad warranty.

For a dishwasher, our Bosch dishwasher cleans very well and is virtually silent.

We have the Sonos sound bar and as others have mentioned, we have it hard wired to the tv via an hdmi cable. I would add the Sonos mini sub which we have as well for better all around sound.

We have a Sonos soundbar in our condo connected to TV with an optical cable (with Apple TV also connected to TV). We have issues with the sound not working properly with the Logitech remote and also the sound gets out of sync with the TV. It has adjustment for this but it doesn’t help. Sound is great but those issues seem to agitate me every time we visit so I haven’t invested in the sub.

Hmm… similar setup with Apple TV (Ethernet connection so no wifi) connected to tv via hdmi and hdmi to the sound bar. Sub connects via wifi. No issues with sound out of sync.

We've had a Bosch dishwasher for, probably, 25 years. It is quiet and has never let us down. Instead of having a heating element in the bottom (which can cause problems), it heats the water and the dishes get blasted with super-hot water.

Maybe I’ll try HDMI instead of optical.

After seeing your post I remember we actually have a Bosch not a Miele so I updated my post.

Some things to consider: a lot of the low to mid range TV have terrible OSs and are very slow if you use their native apps. I bought a cheap 55” LG for a guest room just a few months ago and you’d think it should work great. No. So I added an Apple TV which basically turns the TV into a monitor. Picture is otherwise okay for a guest room.

Also, how often do you want to use it? If it’s your main TV, consider spending a little extra for an OLED. I feel it’s worth the extra spend if you can swing it.

Make sure you look at a site like rtings.com because you never get a fully realistic expectation of how a tv will perform by looking at it in a store. They all are on demo mode and you can test operate them to see how responsive they are or to see if you can adjust the picture etc.

Whatever sound system you get I recommend making sure it can do DTS-X and Dolby Atmos. I believe Sonos now offers it on their system.

As for the TV it should at least do HDR.

I'm using these for a PC monitor and Apple TV to bedroom TV. Should do the trick for TV to Sonos soundbar?

Is this is a better TV and $300+ cheaper in price than the Samsung because it’s OLED?

You're in way over your head. Don't buy anything until you've done a full map out of everything she wants. Tech needs to be integrated, so you can't focus on one piece. I'd also avoid wirless/bluetooth anything and try to wire up through walls wherever possible.

For appliances, kitchen stuff really is budget dependent, laundry I highly recommend SPeed Queen. Yes awful expensive but bullet proof and you'll never need to replace them. Don't touch a single thing from TV companies trying to make washing machines, LG/Samsung etc ... it's all absolute junk.

From your initial post it doesn't seem like you watch much TV anyways so does it matter all that much? Typically OLEDs will be less bright than none OLEDs so if it's in a bright room I would probably skip OLED. I think something like QLED or I think LG has it's own name for it will get you good enough. I have a 55" Roku TLC QLED in our living room that I think looks great. I think I got it for around $500 or less.
