2008 535i Fuel Pump Issues
Hey, so this is my first time posting on here and the main reason for me getting on here is because I just recently purchased a 2008 535i with about 93,000 miles on it. Car was giving me no problems for the first couple of months and then recently it just shut the engine down and I was stuck, so I took it to my mechanic and they changed the fuel pump, no problem. I get the car back, and not 10 minutes later, same problem. Mechanic said there was a faulty part, ordered a new one, replaced again, no problem. Then 2 days later and I get the car saying "reduced power" again and telling me there is something wrong with the pump, leave the car off 2-20 minutes and turn it back on, and its fine again.
I love the car, but this is driving me nuts. Thoughts anyone? Thanks! |

Which fuel pump did you replace?
If you didn't replace the High Pressure Fuel Pump, that could most likely be your problem. High Pressure Fuel Pumps are the most common problem on the N54 motors. I also have a 2008 535i and I get that reduced power malfunction but only when I'm driving and getting on it. |

Dude, its your fuel pump controller, EKP module, over heats and shuts down, which kills the pump. I replaced mine with a "MK3" latest version and mounted it on a heat sink to help dissipate heat. Works great!
